The amendment of our platform only mentions "planks" - so it has been argued in the past that the Preamble could be amended by a majority vote rather than 2/3 like the rest of the platform.  The reason the amendment language mentions planks I believe is to make it clear that they need to be voted on separately - I would like to make it clear that the platform whether it is a plank or the preamble needs the 2/3 vote.  I have some ideas (and this would impact the language of the notice requirement proposal I gave before) but this is an issue.

IMO and without looking as I'm slammed and mobile at the moment i would say to just remove reference to planks and say "amendment of the platform" instead.

That is what I originally thought, but i think the intent in the wording of planks is to prevent bulk additions or deletions and just saying the platform would not accomplish that.

Suggested language (did not draft a rationale).

And I can work on a rationale also. Just wanted to first make sure this proposal accomplishes what is intended.

Update version related to the Preamble with rationale added.

(And totes separate topic from the brainstorming thread, but "PPV" was probably a typo. What did you intend to write?)

Oops meant PRV, and I'll get this added to rolling agenda etc, hopefully tonight.
