Hey all,

As of SVN r1993 I've branched 3.7 .... GMK should be getting
tarball/packages up at some point.

I've done some testing after our last minute additions and didn't
run into any issues, so if anyone does run into any problems, then
holler.

Any ETA on the 3.7 tarballs?
Thanks,
-Jason

Hi Jason,

The tarballs should be up under:
http://warewulf.lbl.gov/downloads/releases/warewulf-*

As for the actual RPM's ... still waiting. I've provided el6 RPM's,
but I had a question on the el5 stuff. Once the RPM's get straightened
out, I'll send out a "proper" release email (or .... make some attempt
at an actual real email).

Is there anything special one should watch out for upgrading from 3.6.99? I guess I'm planning on building RPMs from the tar files and upgrading the RPMs.

Hi Ryan,

There weren't any major changes there at the end, so if you have a
recent'ish (6 months or so) version of 3.6.99 there shouldn't be any
issues. At the end we changed how the default KARGS gets set, so it's
now a configurable option in provision.conf, but beyond that, there
isn't anything major I can think of. It was mostly clean up and a
change to how NIC's are detected in the bootstrap.

BTW, the upgraded files are not available in the releases directory and there’s no mention that 3.7 was released anyplace on the website that I can tell. Is the stable release copy the one that’s here?

http://warewulf.lbl.gov/downloads/testing/3.7/

You mentioned bootstrap changes toward the end — should I be generating a new bootstrap when I’m doing an upgrade? Or shall I expect that the next time I do, I might be more likely to see changes as compared to the last time I did it?

Here is what I’ve got installed, BTW, in case that would help to say what changes I might expect:

warewulf-ipmi-3.6.99-0.r1923.el7.centos.x86_64
warewulf-common-3.6.99-0.r1936.el7.centos.noarch
warewulf-monitor-0.0.1-0.r1939.el7.centos.x86_64
warewulf-provision-server-3.6.99-0.r1945.el7.centos.x86_64
warewulf-monitor-cli-0.0.1-0.r1939.el7.centos.x86_64
warewulf-provision-gpl_sources-3.6.99-0.r1945.el7.centos.x86_64
warewulf-vnfs-3.6.99-0.r1947M.el7.centos.noarch
warewulf-provision-3.6.99-0.r1945.el7.centos.x86_64
warewulf-cluster-3.6.99-0.r1933.el7.centos.x86_64

Thanks for all of your help — I’m reluctant to upgrade a working system if I don’t have the time to mess with it after, even if it is theoretically from a pre-release version to a stable release.
