Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to let you know about a recruitment underway at The Nature Conservancy’s NYC Program for a Managing Scientist in hopes that you may be able to help identify potential candidates for this excellent opportunity.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic team environment shaping and implementing strategies for The Conservancy’s New York City Program which works towards a healthy, resilient and sustainable city environment. Building on the Conservancy’s science-based, collaborative, results-oriented approach and its record of contributing creative and effective solutions to conservation challenges, the NYC Program is working on a suite of projects that will help the city improve community resilience through natural infrastructure, enhance the environmental quality of life for all New Yorkers, and cultivate the next generation of urban conservationists.  Current projects include on the ground restoration on parkland on Jamaica Bay, oyster restoration science to advance a healthy harbor, advancing natural strategies to address urban heat island, and mapping the natural assets of NYC.  All of our work is done collaboratively with other leading institutions across NYC.

Ideal candidates will be strong multidisciplinary scientists with demonstrated experience addressing urban ecological and social challenges. This is also an excellent growth opportunity for an internal candidate.

I have attached a position profile for your consideration and would appreciate your forwarding it to any professional whose experience might qualify him or her for the position.  Applicants must apply on-line at www.nature.org/careers (external applicants) or PeopleSoft/Self-Service/Careers (internal applicants). To more easily locate the position, enter the job ID 44972 in the keyword search.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,
Mike
