Hi!

Is anyone able to access https://cros-omahaproxy.appspot.com/?

It gives me a 500 error while trying to load the table.

Cheers :-)

I reported it here -
But, so far, no authoritative response has been posted.
The site says it's 'supported by the Chromium-OS team' but we haven't been able to determine who that is to date.

Cheers :-)

I will find an owner and resolve this.

@Denny: Whoops, maybe I should have posted in the chromium-os-discuss group (where I would have seen your post). Sorry about that, and thanks for pointing me to your thread! :)

@Joshua: Awesome, thanks!! :)

Joshua,

Just wondering how your search for an owner or maintainer for the https://cros-omahaproxy.appspot.com/ site is going?
It is still giving us a 500 error.

Thanx in advance,
Cheers :-)

I regret to report that the search for an owner has been more difficult than I anticipated. The former owners have all moved on and the tool seems to be unmaintained. We're exploring options to fix in the short term and to migrate to something more sustainable in the long term.

Do you want to share anything about your use case?

Joshua,

I was afraid that might be the case since it's been down for so long.

I am one of many Product Experts that support Chrome OS in the forums, we often need this info. for ourselves plus we get questions about what versions are available for each channel on each device. We had been using both https://cros-omahaproxy.appspot.com/ and https://cros-updates-serving.appspot.com/ to gather this info. but oftentimes, the latter site, although easier to read and has more info. & detail, it is not always up to date so we revert to the omahaproxy site since it seems to be more current, at least in the past.

That is great to hear, having something up to date and reliable is a daunting task I'm sure with all the devices, channels, and version updates.
We do appreciate your efforts and, as you said, hope to get something more sustainable in the long term.

Much appreciated,
~DennyL

Joshua, I'd also like to add my thanks and appreciation.

Access to a reliable and accurate data source is something we rely on. When a user is reporting problems, we often ask for the ChromeOS version and device that they are using. Knowing that updates are rolled out in a staged manner, we then check to see what version they user SHOULD be seeing. Sometimes, there was a rollback or a hold for some boards - the two sites that DennyL mentioned, have been our "gold standard" until recently.

Another use case is for when we find issues with the Recovery process. Cross-checking to the data sources is a way to quickly identify the sometimes odd problems that show up.
