Hi Oliver/Google,

Re recent EU trader declaration changes for the Chrome Web Store, I tried to verify my account by clicking the orange "Verify now" button in the "Account verification" section. A popup appeared briefly, then vanished. I think it said "something went wrong" before it vanished.

Can you help with this? Please tell me what info is required (I'm using a different email here to the one for my web store account)

I realise it's personal to me, but if it's affecting me, I guess it affects others.

Many thanks
Greg

p.s. this is the second issue I've run into with account verification. I first tried changing my Google Payments account type from individual to organisation, and have failed so far after contacting Google support 3 times: I keep being told I've contacted the wrong team, and to try somewhere else. I found a quote from Oliver on a related thread saying "Are you able to open the verification window and create a new payment profile?". So I thought I'd try that, which resulted in the broken button: https://groups.google.com/a/chromium.org/g/chromium-extensions/c/pMgv5SKdCII/m/vFpiRQx5AQAJ

Hi,

To try verification again, you should be able to go to your account page in the Developer Dashboard and choose "This is a trader account". Even if that option is already selected, it should open the dialog to go through the subsequent steps.

If you're having trouble creating a Google payments account, I would suggest using the One Stop Support form: https://support.google.com/chrome_webstore/contact/one_stop_support

Sorry you've been having trouble - hopefully this is all sorted for you soon.

Thanks,

Hi Oliver

So in my account, I (temporarily) switched it to "This is a non-trader account”. I then selected "This is a trader account”, and see an “Action required” modal (screenshot attached). On setting "This is a trader account”, and ticking a check box, another modal (verification?) appears with a spinner, then vanishes. On page reload, I’m back to being marked as a “Non-trader account”.

This seems broken. Thoughts?

I’m unclear if this breakage is connected to the linked Google Pay account being for an individual rather than an organisation, or is completely different.

Greg

Yeah, that definitely doesn't sound like the expected behaviour to me.

If you haven't already, can you open a support ticket and share the case number?

Hi Oliver,

I’ve just opened a support ticket with One Stop Support. Will send case number to oliverdunk@ email directly.

Thanks
