Very bad news to the independent developers.
Chrome on Windows 8 launched from "Metro" screen doesn't support many extensions, for example Awesome Screenshot (1,072,186 users)
can not be installed! from Chrome Web Store:

This means Chrome on Windows8 doesn't support extensions and apps that use NPAPI plugins? Total sanbox? :(

Well Windows 8 has not been released publicly yet, so there might be enough time to add this. At least I hope so :/

Windows 8 and Metro: The World Without Browser Plug-ins :(

This means that large corporations can block independent developers and small organizations to access a system, plus a ban on the installation of apps from third party websites. One click and your extension or app will be disbaled or removed from store and users can't install it from another resource anymore. Full control of who and what develops and what program is the "best" for end users.
I think this is a very dangerous decision that violates the right to freedom and development for all.

The Chromium Blog

We expect NPAPI plug-in usage to continue declining over time, especially since plug-ins can’t run on most phones and tablets. If the trends continue, we look forward to the day when NPAPI can retire peacefully to the countryside.

Total sandbox :(

What do they think about plugins that integrate Chrome with other Windows apps, such as Skype plugin and many more?

And I know companies who develop plugins for internal usage like database access, they wlll have to move to Firefox...

There is just some Applications and Extensions which have doesn't work in Chrome on Win 8 Metro!!!
Big "thanks" MS, Goog, Adob and other global corp.

Why they have blocking third party plugins and system level access even for signed modules?
In a near future, a large corporations will decide what developers can do and can not?

Awesome Screenshot - 1,076,796 users

Screen Capture - 1,330,331 users

IETab - 1,290,802 users

IE Tab Classic - 77,899 users
77,899 users

FireShot: Webpage Screenshots + Ann - 38,364 users

...and many others...

Similar situation with Firefox, IE, even on Linux

Chromium - Issue 153648: Block NPAPI plug-ins in Metro mode

Reported by project member... Oct 2, 2012
In Metro mode, we should still load NPAPI plug-ins (i.e. show them in navigator.plugins), but block them,

E.g move all independent developers into sandbox :(
