How to sell CWS Apps? (for non-US Residents)

Hi all,

What are some good payment solutions for people who want to distribute CWS apps but who are outside of the US? I was counting on Google Checkout/Wallet being an easy way to sell an app, but unfortunately I was disappointed to find out that it's not available for sellers in Canada.

So how can I sell a CWS application?

One way would be to handle payments through PayPal, then somehow log that the user's Google Account is "registered", and then put my application behind some login page. I'm not keen on this method because I don't want to write fancy backend infrastructure.

Another method (applicable for NaCl apps) is that I might just be able to implement a serial number activation mechanism in my application (old school). I could handle payments through PayPal, email users a serial number, and then they could enter that into my NaCl application which verifies it. I'm very much leaning towards this approach because it's simpler.

Anyone else have any ideas?

We do support Canada in the up-front payment scheme https://developers.google.com/chrome/web-store/docs/pricing and also via the In-app-payment infrastructure https://developers.google.com/in-app-payments/faq#faq-gen-02

Despite that documentation, this is what you see when you try to sign up as a Google Wallet/Checkout merchant outside the UK or US: http://imgur.com/cAzd9

Any hints?

I'm encouraged that this is "supposed to work" though, that's a good sign. :)

To give you some extra info:

When you click the "Learn more" link on that page (where it says
"Don't see your country?"), it brings you to this page:
https://support.google.com/wallet/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=105653

There's a paragraph that says:

"Please note that if you’ve previously used Google Checkout, you
already have Google Wallet. This service is available in many
countries. Check to make sure Google Wallet is [available in your
country]."

The "available in your country" link is broken, and goes to:
https://support.google.com/wallet/bin/%3Ca%20href=

This link has been broken for several months now, and if this
information or the sign up page is incorrect, then I can't be the only
who assumed Google Wallet/Checkout wasn't going to work for us, based
on that.

If I did into the page source, I can see the correct link is supposed to be:
https://support.google.com/wallet/bin/answer.py?answer=2604797&topic=1711146&ctx=topic

(This is the first time I've seen that page...)

Regardless, I still can't figure out how to sign up without having a
US or UK contact address. Any help or insight would be greatly
appreciated (probably by many other people as well!)
