Why would I get more email alerts than telegram alerts for a camera that has the exact same settings for both?  Or rather using home settings.

Example at 2:45 email saw a person.
2:47 email alert saw a car

Telegram only showed the car at 2:47, nothing for the person at 2:45

I just changed my alerts from showing the item identified in the subject line of the email so there would only be one thread per day per camera in my email thread.

If a camera isn't disallowing telegram alerts via rule  but no explicit rules for email vs telegram I would expect them to get the same alerts.   But that is clearly not happening.

I'm experiencing a similar problem since the latest release was pushed out.  My Telegram alerts are coming in late, and some never show up (I have emails for alerts and no Telegram message for the same ones).

I too am having this problem. My wife told me a person would through our driveway (expected), and to alert me when they did. I never got a telegram (I have email alerts switched off), but found out the person had been there…

Inspected the alerts (through bell icon), and there the person’s approach is shown, so it was definitely detected…
But I never got the telegram alert.

Reviewing the alerts in the camera view using the backarrow eventually reveals the detection as well, listed as “person” (in green, so considered useful).

We're looking into this. We haven't changed anything telegram-related on our end, and our load hasn't really changed either, but telegram's servers recently started issuing some errors claiming that our bots are submitting too many requests. Some telegram messages are getting dropped on the floor as a result. (We try 3 times and give up after that.)

We're nowhere near their documented load limits. (We're at about 3-5% of the documented values.)  I've reached out to their bot support to ask what's going on, but from what I've read we're not very likely to get a reply :-(.

In the the meantime, we've added a number of new telegram bots. Without knowing why the existing bots are considered overloaded (i.e. is it really our traffic, is it a temporary problem on their side, or have they changed what limits apply per bot and not documented it yet) we're not sure if this will help.

Can a few of you try moving to a new bots and see if that solves the problems for you?

Moving from one of the old bots to a newer one requires cancelling and signing up with a bot again. If you want to try this, send a message saying "/cancel" in the existing chat. You should get a confirmation that you'll no longer receive alerts. Then, click your profile pic in the top bar and choose "receive alerts in telegram" as you did before ... telegram should open and then you need to click the "start" button, and you should get a confirmation that you're signed up.  (Signing up again is easiest done on a phone, where you already have the telegram app installed. Clicking the link will open the telegram app, and you should see the "start" button at the bottom of the screen.)

Note: If this suggestion turns out not to help, I might delete this message from the forum after a few people try it.

Okay. I just cancelled my subscription in Telegram and then started them again. Guess we will see what it does.

I set up a new bot as you described.  Will update with results later.

It has not fixed my delay with the new bot.

I also tried the new bot - previously I wasn't getting the alerts at all, now I get most of the alerts, but pretty delayed. My google home speaker announces the event right away, but it was probably 30-60 seconds later that the alert came into telegram.

I just did this at 5:15PM EST.  I tested it out and am getting a telegram alert within 50 seconds now, maybe faster, I didn't time it, but about the same as it used to be.

Is this now recommended procedure? Will this need to be repeated as Camect usage increases? Wouldn't a restart of some portion of the software accomplish this?

"Sorry, we failed to process this request. Please try again later." seems to be the Telegram bot message of the minute after issuing a "/cancel" command.

It's the recommended procedure for now. Unfortunately, there is no way for us to move you from one bot to another automatically -- telegram requires that you give the new bot permission to talk to you. (That's what clicking the "start" button is doing.)

I can't say whether this will ever be needed again. If we are able to predict the level at which a bot is getting "full" then we would be able to automatically place new users on new bots. However, at the moment the existing bots are way below the published limits on usage, and we haven't received any response from attempts to contact their bot support. Lack of response is apparently typical -- so we're left to try to guess about what limits they're applying and why.  (This strikes me as somewhat reminiscent of all the guessing about "the algorithm" that businesses dependent upon Google for web traffic have to do.) Right now, we don't even know for sure that this is an intentional permanent thing ... although it has gone on long enough that we're assuming it is.

We're still trying to see if what can do something to make the old bots work within the limits, and we've managed to improve the situation a little, but there are still problems. If we ultimately give up on that, we may start attaching a note to delayed messages to let people know they should switch.

If you try to sign up again anyway, does it say you're already receiving messages in the chat?

I'm aware of a bug where this can happen if you (at any point in the past) signed up for telegram a second time with a different sign in identity. Send a note to sup...@camect.com with the sign in email you're having problems with, and I can reset it for you.

Arup:

It seemed like (on Android) things were stuck in a loop with something running on the server side over-and-over, failing, and running again.

I went to macOS, went to home.camect.com and resubscribed to alerts and it opened Telegram Lite and I was able to manipulate things there to get alerts again, and they seem in-order.

I will let you know if the erros return via email.

So you got more than one of the messages saying it failed to process the request, in response to only one /cancel message? How many responses (approximately) did you get, and at what time (including time zone)?  Thanks ...

After noticing 20-40 min delays in alerts I followed the below recommendations... I am now no longer get any alerts (delayed alerts were better than "no" alerts)!!! This on the same day that a group of 3 guys tried to steal my motorcycle from my front yard at 5am. Luckily I was alerted to that and the motorcycle has an alarm that scared them off. You can understand why I'm extra anxious to get my alerts working again!

That's certainly not expected. When you signed up again, did you click the "start" button in the telegram chat, and did you get an acknowledgement confirming that you're signed up for telegram alerts?

Also, have you checked the "alerts" tab to ensure that "Send alerts (via email or app)" is enabled, and that your settings in the "me" tab allow for delivery?

Until you start getting telegram alerts again, you might want to try enabling email alerts as a backup. If you get the email but not telegram alerts, we'll at least know that the problem is limited to telegram.

I see you just sent in a message to support, so I'll follow up with you there.

Telegram seems to be very broken.  Also, isn't there a better method to letting users know the service is experiencing a problem?  I had to go hunting to see if anyone else is having the same problem as me, only to find this thread where the issue has knowingly been going on for days.

Back to the point....I too was getting 20-40 min delays in Telegram notifications.  I did the /cancel as suggested, then signed up again, all via my iPhone, even got the confirmation response from telegram.  Went out and triggered some events and did not get anything in my "new" chat thread, but I did get several "Sorry, we failed to process the request. Please try again later." messages in the old Chat.  After sending a /start message on the old account I ironically got an alert that had triggered but not received prior to my /cancel message.  I've got through the /cancel and set up of receiving loop a few times now from my iPhone as well as PC and nothing is bringing back full undelayed functionality. And now sending /start to my original chat does not restore alerts, just gives me the "Sorry, we failed..." message.

Something that seems worth mentioning is that my original Chat profile has a username of @CamectAlerts where as subsequent chat profiles have a username of @CamectAlertsXXXXXXXXXX were the x's are a seemingly serialized sequence of characters.

Hi Randy ... Sorry the telegram procedure was not easier to find -- and especially sorry that it didn't actually work as expected.

If it becomes necessary for everyone to do this, we'll start attaching a note to delayed telegram alerts to tell them about it. However, we want to make sure it's actually working before we ask large numbers of people to switch.

We're looking into the loop right now. It appears to be a consequence of something else we did to try to get the old servers to work better for people.

I'm currently not seeing you signed up for telegram (assuming you use the same email to sign into Camect as you do to post here). What happens if you choose "receive alerts in telegram" from the profile pic dropdown and click the start button?

Hi, yes I used this @gmail address.  and my telegram user shows a goog: in front of my email address

As of late yesterday I was getting flooded with messages from my original Telegram chat that said the following:

To stop receiving Camect alerts send: /cancel

To start receiving your Camect alerts in Telegram:

 - Visit your Camect Home, and click on your profile picture at the top right of the title bar.

 - In the dropdown, choose Receive alerts in telegram and follow the instructions.

 - When you are brought to the Camect Alerts telegram chat, click the "start" button.

So I turned off notifications and then after 30min it transitioned to "This bot is full. Please start from Camect Home app again." for about 30min and stopped.

This morning I pressed Start from the CamectHome browser interface again and I've successfully triggered an alert without delay.
