Besides the seasonal allergies impacting so many of us, I hope you’re otherwise ready as we get into hunt test season!
We had a good year last year and look forward to another in 2026. Our Spring hunt test is just a couple of weeks away.
There has been lots of behind the scenes work getting done, especially by Jeanie Budd and Jessica Meriwether. We’re super excited. This will be Jeanie‘s first test to be the official hunt test secretary with Jessica closely by her side!
Likewise, Cami will be the Bird Steward and I will be by her side to make sure all goes well with the ducks.
Shawn is working to coordinate the meals, but that doesn’t mean Shaun has to do all of the meals if any of you can step up and help him out or take on a meal yourself that would be terrific. We do have some people that know how to cook!!! I have never starved in a whole test.
The biggest gap we have right now is Marshals many of you have marshaled in positions in the past and I would appreciate your service again, however we do have to build bench depth so please if you have not marshaled and you like to do so express your interest so I can partner you with one of our veterans for this test. If you’ve recently learned how to marshal and you’re ready to step up, let me know - time to jump in!
A couple of comments about our test.
Our owner handler looks to be a very strong showing. I would prefer not to hire help and spend that money on a Friday so if you are available to help on Friday, that would be terrific, but it’s gonna take a few of us.
On the other side, our master turn out is atypically low, although it is on the very last weekend that people can qualify for the master amateur. There are several tests like hours going on around the country. There’s also an SRS event and other master tests that have selected the same weekend. So, it’s not a surprise that we don’t have the density of master dogs.
We will talk more about these topics at the meeting coming this Tuesday the 17th at Wings ‘N More at 6:30.
I do need trailers moved from Mike & Jan’s to Parten’s Ranch on Thursday morning and returning Sunday night or Monday morning after the test.
Lastly- need some test dogs.
Please let Jeanie or I know if you can help out.
Looking forward to a fun test see y’all Tuesday!
