"The 32-year-old Wiggins, who has won seven Olympic medals including
four golds, was taken to hospital in Preston where he was given morphine
and had a precautionary scan of his head".

Presumably to see if his brain was still there.

Just goes to show what a silly form of transport a push bike is.

Do you get extra points if it is a famous cyclist? I wonder if the training
ride was high speed and he just ploughed into a van, it often happens with
racing cyclists .

I think that if you analyse Judith's post you'll find it wasn't a lie.

"Including racing on the public highway like Wiggins was?" Wiggins has
raced on the public highway, just not at the time his was run over.

Then why was he riding so fast that he could not stop before running into
the side of a van at such a rate that he caused serious damage to himself
and some to the van? Any road user should be aware of vehicles that may be
about to pull out from junctions and premises such as a garage and be ready
and prepared to stop. I also note that there was a prolonged screech of
tyres immediately before the crash was heard, presumably that was the chase
car trying to stop before they rammed the bicycle. It is quite possible
that he was crouched head down, so minimal size to be seen, travelling far
faster than might usually be expected and so was not seen by the van driver,
nor did he see it, until too late.
99 per cent of crashes involve more than one person making a mistake, the
van driver failed to see the bicycle, the cyclist failed to observe the van
and act accordingly.

Feel free to enlighten us and explain how cyclists "train" on the public
highway and why they need a support vehicle.

Are you sure that they don't train by going as fast as they can (also known as
racing)

He was probably riding without significant effort as he was so close
to home, so he was either warming-up or warming-down. His speed would
be significantly less than motorised vehicles on that road. It would,
all things considered, be slow.

Since when has this event been permitted for juveniles, 20mph,
really?

Ah - so you are racing; but only against the clock, so that isn't really racing
at all.

Glad you have cleared that up.

You are wicked value you know.

Not content to post his shite once - he now has to post it twice.

wtf did this bit come from which he quotes:

he attributes that to me - but I didn't post it.

It is pure shite - so must have come from him.

Actually, there wasn't a binary choice of answers.

"Was he training to see how slow he could go[?]" is capable of a Y or N
answer (and even an IDK).

"...or perhaps he was racing against the clock?" is a separate question,
capable of getting any of the same three responses.

Just saying...

It really sounded more like a question than a comment.

Perhaps it was a faulty question.

[That was a tentative statement, not a question.]

You have admitted in this newsgroup to using many different names to post under, but have never explained why it is OK for you to do it, but not others.

You have admitted to posting under a name and then denied posting under the same name. Again, no explanation of why this is OK for you , but not for others.

Oh have I really: please show me the post where I have admitted using "many"
