I finally found the glitch in Youtube, and fixed it. It can also be found by searching for SKYTREXPRT. I had to revert to my original system name for some unexplained reason.

Googling SKYTREKPRT doesn't get 'you'. Do you have another link?

The obvious conflict with your own technology aside - which, as I
pointed out in mine from earlier, your site is hiding - I'm wondering
if you (or anyone else) have any thoughts on the urban application of
aerial gondola. Seems that it's taking flight everywhere but the north
part of North America. If you listen to some (Steven Dale of
gondolaproject.com for starters), it's been stymied because it 'just
ain't within the thinkin' of planners. Then again, it might have
something to do with the fact that there's not one single gondola
lobbyist U-know-where.

Jerry S. might beat me to pointing out an expensive one erected about 5
years ago in Portland OR.

Many ski gondolas.

Good for specific point to point.

But hardly area coverage on demand to random destinations.

I will spend a little time figuring out if this post was meant for me. It seems to be, but I haven't a clue what you mean. Am I hiding something?
Some people on the list probably think that I am one of the most out-spoken SOB's they have ever heard of.

I am not familiar with any recent Gondola experiments except the Priest in South America wo filled a large net with hydrogen balloons, cheered on by a huge crowd on his trip to another town.  The cheers faded when the winds aloft took him out over the ocean.  This was months ago, and he isn't back yet. Most people have doubts about his survival.

Is this the kind of transport you mean?

So far, the use of flocks of helium balloons for transportation has about the same safety record as the Startrek Transporter system.

Bob:  I am not familiar with "Startrek".  Is that a new one?  If you meant "Skytrek", at least I haven't killed anybody yet. Of course we don't know for sure that this Priest is dead.  With a little Divine Intervention he may have caught a wind current that took him all the way to Africa.  I wish I had that kind of a backup system, but I doubt that too.

If that was meant to be an explanation, would you please try again. Use English, I dont speak Wikipedia, and I don't see how Science Fiction got into the conversation. Are you intimating that, because I let my Daughter persuade me that "Skytrek" was a more modern term, and more readily acceptable than the "Skytrax" name that I originally wanted to use, all that I am talking about is just Science Fiction?

If so, why don't you say what you mean, IN PLAIN LANGUAGE? Maybe I will let my Daughter write the reply.

Clearly I have offended a lot of people somehow. I do not recall saying that seniors should have their driver's licenses taken
away, anymore than teenagers should all be permanently grounded. At the mature age of 62, I have already received more than one
senior discount. I think maybe I can be allowed a quota of rambling. No I am not retired. No, do not call me before noon PST. I
work the late shift.

Also, any relationship between Skytrek and the [nefarious] Startrek transporter is purely unintentional. I don't have any
explanation for my insult since I was unaware of it. If people do not know what Startrek was after countless generations on the
"All Startrek" channel on TV, I am at a complete loss to explain my insensitivity. It has never occurred to me to confuse Startrek
with Skytrek. I promise never to talk about Startrek on this list again.

I do not have blinders but I do not keep up with all the traffic on this list either. I apologize.

No, I am not the Bob Dunning in Davis. I am not the Bob Dunning who runs a vineyard in Paso Robles. I am not the Bob Dunning who
is a male nurse in the UK. I am not the "liberal" Pro-Life Bob Dunning who hosts on the Catholic Channel. We all have our cross to
bear and it would seem that I can be insulted merely by putting my name into a search engine.

I found the story of the finding of the floating priest's body interesting so I passed it along. I did not think anyone would be
offended. I apologize.

Unlike some people, such as my wife, I like Wikipedia and turn to it at every opportunity. I am always amazed when the exact
subject I am seeking has a full article in Wikipedia. Sometimes I find errors in Wikipedia. When I do, I fix the error to the best
of my ability. I provide links to references as needed. I have created two articles in Wikipedia, both about west coast native
rhododendrons. My wife is disgusted by all of this.

Her specialty is Ebay. No one can locate obscure necessities and bargain for them like she does. The replacement 1993 Villager
headlight is on its way because of her.

Speaking of reserved right-of-ways, I hit an elk on the way home a few days ago. Hence the headlight. I was relieved to see the
same two elk alive (!??!) and well in exactly the same spot crossing the road again this evening. I was wary and braked in time,
this time.

Please accept my profound apologies. I regret ever opening my edit window.

This misunderstanding was in part caused by Bob starting a new topic
by *replying* to an existing topic and changing the title. In Google
Groups, this causes the new message to be appended to the original
thread, so Bob's comment about "Startrek" (in which he was clearly
referring to the TV show) was misinterpreted by Jack as a reference to
"Skytrek" because it was literally presented as a followup comment to
a discussion of SkyTrek.

For those who don't realize the effect of replying to an unrelated
message rather than starting a new topic from scratch, here is how the
thread appeared in Google Groups:

http://groups.google.com/group/transport-innovators/browse_thread/thread/2bdd6f4ee9ccafa2

If that doesn't work, try:

http://tinyurl.com/2arlyg5

Notice that the original thread was Jack's discussion of his prototype
work, and Bob's new thread started halfway down as a simple *title*
*change*, so it appeared that he was replying to Jack. This happens
ALL THE TIME for those of us who use Google Groups to access this
group -- threads get munged together by this practice. It goes
unnoticed by those who do it because they are using email (which
doesn't thread the messages like Groups).

This is simply offered as an explanation, nothing more. This was just
a big misunderstanding.

Bob

To me wikipedia is a mess.  I tried for a couple months to work within their system but the winner of wikipedia is the guy with the least life.  The information that remains is with the oversight of a guy in his mom's basement because persistence beats facts every time on wikipedia.  I read it sometimes but I take everything there with a grain of salt for sure.

Skytrak is on a local piece of equipment at the nearest college.  It looks like a very large forklift and has Skytrak painted on the boom.  http://www.skytrak.com/models.htm
It is hard to find a name that is not used by someone else these days.  I realize the spelling is different but close enough for the search engine to go right to it.  Dyslexic people read word shape so all those words read about the same to them/me.

OK, now I understand, so please forgive my little rant also.

I guess I am with you in finding names like Startrek, Star Trek etc a little confusing. Maybe that's why Youtube would not let me post a video under the "Skytrek" name, and I eventually had to go back to my original choice of "Skytrax" .
