Amsterdam regional officials have voted to allow private firm Citycargo
to run freight tram services in the city from 2008. The company, which
says it will operate 50 trams, claims the trams will keep some 5,000
trucks a day out of the city centre so reducing air pollution.
[There was a pilot earlier in the year... and then it needed to be
evaluated....]
