Hey ho, time to wake up!

My fellow groupies.....

(ah well, that was a bad start..... anyway, read on.....)

It is my solemn & unhappy duty to ask why are we in a state of coma? No activity, no blogger meets. What? Have we all suddenly turned introverts, sitting at our desks, doing whatever catches our fancy, or lying about on couches & surfing through the splendid fare that's dished out to us by our Indian TV Channels?

I for one feel ashamed to admit that I turned lazy (more than what I was), who spent weekends lying about on the couch watching same movies again & again (I've an inherent dislike for the magnificent gourmet served on Indian TV & hence can't stand it) after working like hell in 5 work days. But apparently I received an electric shock by me brain & have been made to give up that extra large sedentary lifestyle (make it large but not the sedentary lifestyle)!!

So what about you people? How about a bloggers meet? Not a workshop/seminar but a fully faaltu timepass & fun filled meetup? The last I recall (not actually, had to look up discussion archive in the group, eh) was on 26th September 2010, almost a year ago, at Jantar Mantar (man, that spot's been pretty hot with activity after that, eh!).

So any takers? First we need ayes of those who're willing to risk their time (away from family, wife, girlfriend[s], etc. - but I say why risk it, bring them along as well, more the merrier). Then we'll need suggestions on the places & then as in a democratic way we would vote & choose the place! :)

Well, instead of just sitting somewhere & chatting away the time, how about we actually do something? The last meetup we had was themed on photowalk, honing our photography skills at the magnificent Jantar Mantar of Delhi. The one before that was a foodie meetup where we explored some of the yummy North Indian delights in Chandni Chowk. So, lets do something different this time as well.

Anyone ever tried paintball fight? It sure is interesting. If people are upto it, we can go for a game of paintball fight. There are multiple arenas now in NCR, the best I can find so far is by http://paintballdelhi.com/ - 1 is in Noida behind TGIP & 1 in DLF Mega Mall Gurgaon. It isnt expensive either, should come up to Rs.300-400 approx. per person including safety gear, gun & pellets etc. I think they can provide a better deal for a group. 30-60 minutes of fun, painting the opponents in colours! :)

Heh, what happened people? We had an outpouring of ayes & just 2 suggestions & only 2-3 affirmations to either suggestion.

C'mon, not to release the momentum on this now. If you don't like any of the two suggestions put forth then suggest something different & promising.

Just to make one thing clear, for the paintball thing, we'll need atleast 6 people. As I suggested it, I'm willing to take the onus & talk to the company running the arenas & get this all set up.

If apprehension towards paintball fight is in relation to dirtying your clothes then don't worry, full gear is provided at professionally run venues & so you won't be getting any paint on your own clothes. (I'll anyway double check this with the people running the show)

This thing is safe as well as protection gear like chest guards, full face & neck masks etc. are provided.

Ok, so I just spoke to Manish at paintballdelhi.com & here are the details:

1) INR 100 per person entry fee - this includes the overalls (so your clothes don't get painted), protective gear (chest/neck guards, gloves, face mask), gun, CO2 tank etc.

2) INR 160 for a load of 25 paintball pellets or INR 260 for a load of 50 pellets. INR 2500 for a load of 500 pellets which can be divided among the group. So if we are like 10-12 people, makes sense to go for 500 pellet box.

I asked his advice on the location, whether we should go for Noida one or the one in Gurgaon. He said that since it'll be first time for many, Noida one would be better as its outdoors & much bigger in area so it'll give better experience.

He'll need advance notice so he can book our slot, we'll have a minimum of 1 hour booked for us (we can go over that if we still have pellets left & if even one opponent is left standing).

For those who are not aware, paintball fights are like gaming simulation for a kind of a war game, where there are two teams with equal number of members & each of them try to take out the other by shooting them with paintball. If you're shot you're out of the game. Its about team work, as the team which shoots out all the members of other team wins! :)

The arena is open from 1230 hours onwards till 2100 hours all days of the week. So if you guys are in then I think we can set Saturday 24th September 2011 as the D-Day. I hope Saturday is agreeable to all. If not then please say so.

Also, as this requires monetary contribution from each participant, past experience has taught that we collect the money before hand so that its all smooth & no unpleasant situations on The Day or later. :)

Sorry to know that Lalima. I usually ask people to consider a central venue so that ppl from Noida & Gurgaon find it equi-distance. But in this case we don't have any choice, its either Gurgaon or Noida, doing Noida coz its a bigger arena there. Heh, its gonna be a long way for myself as well as I live on the other side of Delhi, will be abt 30-35km from my place but I'm hoping it'll be worth the trouble to drive there. :)

I dont know how to put it.... but first of all Amit -  "Sorry". Not because that i am one of those yes which never turned out to be yes but because of  my negligence that i did not get any of the mails since 13th Sep. It was jst now while i was cleaning my mail box that i looked for ur mails tomorrow being a weekend that i found all those remaining mails which were some how had got deleted!!!!! :(  and one more time sorry that your efforts on behalf us went for a toss just becos we didnt stand for it!

(I have to clear my mail every 10-15 days..mailbox over and the error must have occurred without my noticing it)

what a time to notice! :( i was quite eager to play this as I still have a fascination for guns and all. It would have been great fun. I know i could have called you at least to ask the update, but i preferred to wait for the mail which i never bothered to notice :( now praying the price of it.

but we can definitely bring this offline smtime soon...even if we are 4-5 of us... we can manage.cant we?...
