Several Major Issues with the latest Cygwin/Terminator Terminator problem (1640/3253/1.6.0_24-b07/Windows 7 6.1 Cygwin 1.7.9/x86 x4)

I upgraded my Cygwin and Terminator today, and when using Terminator,
I have noticed the following problems:
After running an ls command, the prompt does not return.
After cat'ing a file, the shell exits.
After closing a vim session, the shell exits.

I'm not seeing these problems using Cygwin in the DOS shell window, so
it does appear to be Terminator specific.

I cant get it to work at all with Gygwin, I did find 2 nice
alternatives, Minty and console 2.

I ran Setup as indicated, but I get an error:
"Unable to get setup.ini from
<ftp://www.fruitbat.org/pub/cygwin/circa/2011/02/20/102009/
index.html>"

Is that still the correct url?

I suspect it never was and that Simon meant:

 

ftp://www.fruitbat.org/pub/cygwin/circa/2011/02/20/102009/

 

ie lose the "index.html".

I tried that, as well as the url up to cygwin, neither worked for me.

It worked for me, seconds ago. There was a pause part way, for perhaps even a minute but it completed successfully.

I run this command:
setup.exe -XNdOs ftp://www.fruitbat.org/pub/cygwin/circa/2011/02/20/102009/
But every time, I get an error "Download Incomplete. Try again?'. If I
say yes, it takes me back. If I say no, it tries to install a bunch of
null packages.
I've tried more than ten times so far, with the same results.

Ah, so it got the setup.ini but failed at the installation step.  I hadn't tried that.  Looking through the archives, I see the one I originally used was from a few days later.

And still works, all the way through to Finish and out:

 

"C:\Documents and Settings\martind\Desktop\setup-1.7.exe" -qXNdOs ftp://www.fruitbat.org/pub/cygwin/circa/2011/02/25/154017

 

See your:

 

-s --site                              Download site

-O --only-site                         Ignore all sites except for -s

...

-N --no-startmenu                      Disable creation of start menu shortcut

-d --no-desktop                        Disable creation of desktop shortcut

 

And raise you:

 

-q --quiet-mode                        Unattended setup mode

I'm not sure if it was the -q or the newer url, but that did the
trick.
