Earlier today I was engaged in a flame war with 'Ray Fischer,' one of
Bryan 'Zepp' Jamieson's numerous sockpuppets.

After denying he ever took a certain position and accusing me of
lying, I decided to Google the subject, and came across a message
posted under the name "Francisco Zhivago," which sounded just like
Zepp, and indeed the NNTP address traced back to Redding, California,
which many of Zepp's more recent posts also trace back to.

Here are two different messages under two different aliases with IP
addresses that both trace back to Redding:

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.rush-limbaugh/browse_thread/thread/406fb228bb0efa96/798380e77f4e63ce
http://groups.google.com/group/alt.society.liberalism/browse_thread/thread/634db9b33bc7bfdc

Unfortunately, some news servers do not include NNTP posting addresses
in their headers, though Zepp's rhetoric and certain phrases are
usually recognizable, as are the set of newsgroups he crossposts to
(which is how I identified his Ray Fischer sock).

I have long been suspicious that 'Harry Hope' was one of Zepp's socks,
with the same habit of reposting entire commercial news articles. But
while Harry starts threads, he is careful to never engage himself in
them, lest he be exposed as Zepp.

However, while Harry Hope's Usenet provider does not include NNTP
address headers, it does include a header identifying the user's
newsgroup reader client. Both Harry and Zepp are using Forte Agent
4.2/32.1118, with the same ISO-8859-1 character set. This is not
absolute proof, and Zepp seems to be using several computers with
several different clients, but it is strong evidence indeed.

As I uncover more of Zepp's socks, I will report them here.

I would love to know how he supports himself, with so many sockpuppets
representing too many hours of Usenet work to hold down a real job.

Rumor has it he works for a local Internet company, which explains his
ability to post from so many different IP addresses.

I just used my NNTP account to download all messages in alt.fan.rush-
limbaugh back to 2003. So far I am I have obtained several IP
addresses for "Harry Hope," as well as the obvious Zepp sock, "2924
Dead <zepp22...@finestplanet.com>", also using Forte Agent
3.1/32.783. Zepp mentioned having briefly lived in Georgia, which the
header "References: <3pUeh.278$dD2...@tornado.southeast.rr.com> seems
to correspond to.

How Zepp supports himself is a mystery, though apparently some legal
problems prevent him from applying for U.S. citizenship. What his
legal problems might be are also a mystery, however Zepp lives just a
few miles south of a Northern California town named "Weed."

One very common sign of online mental illness is accusing several
different people - even those with completely different writing styles
- of being the same person.

Didn't anyone tell you? I can do magic. I can be in many places at
once, and I really am six or twelve different people. You have brown
socks on, and you are petting a cat named Pickles, who does not return
your affection.

Oh, and I'm Dank420. I just like making right wingers look stupid. You
have to admit, I'm doing a great job.

Except that Zepp has an irresistible tendency to call other people
'bubbles,' as well of accusing them of 'racism.' After getting to
know Zepp's general style of rhetoric, it becomes easy to Google his
posts under various aliases, which is how I found his 'Francisco
Zhivago' rant on swine flu so quickly.

I already provided two examples of Zepp's socks, both with identical
rhetoric and writing styles. Stay tuned, because I have seven years
off messages to wade through. Zepp is probably the most transparent
trolls on Usenet, which is why his Harry Hope sock stays silent.

No, you're making yourself look stupid. All I really want from you is
an apology, an admission that you were wrong to accuse me of lying.
But you will never apologize, because you are just too arrogant. I've
already posted dozens and dozens of links supporting my claims, and
you continue to deny them. The only person who looks stupid is you.

I'm not in the least surprised. For left-wingers, a low-level job in
IT somehow inspires a completely unearned sense of intellectual
superiority. It probably comes from working around so much
information, but not having enough intelligence to discern which
information is credible. So, they just trust any source that agrees
with their twisted worldview.
I'm pretty sure the IT field is severely overrepresented among Usenet
lefties.

I plonked HH many years ago because he doesn't have the 'nads

You're a lot more enthused than me. I'm too apathetic and he's

I'm sorry to have to tell you this.... Jamieson simply does not have
the intellectual brain power to pull off what you claim... I'm sure
that he has had to go off and find a job since his little secretary
business went belly up, but his computer skills are not sufficient to
warrant a job with an ISP.

You can see evidence of his miserable computer skills by checking out
what's left of his "business," which is making cookie cutter websites
for some local sideshow freaks. The best he can do involves website
templates.

Lets see, a gutless right winger who only uses a fake name is
attacking a liberal.

Wow, is this the first time a gutless widdle fake name using coward

You are supposed to say, "I would like to apologize for not being
Zepp"

http://groups.google.com/group/comp.software.extreme-programming/msg/4e804d1b07df7dbd

"I want to apologize to everyone for any confusion that has been

am
not.

"I am, in fact, Ron Jeffries, although I have a father (now deceased)

a son (a brewer) of the same name. I have never seen either one of
them
post here. I'm really quite sure that Dad won't be, and don't expect
young Ron to do so either, unless we turn the discussion to really

"I myself have neither the time nor the inclination to post under

name, even if another name would have me."

After some troll accused all of us of being the same person.

They always turn stalker after I break them, don't they? I wonder if
this poor Francisco Zhivago guy is getting weird anonymous emails now,
accusing him of being Canadian or overweight or something right now.
Maybe he's wondering how seriously to take an email that just told him he

So Danky is going through seven years of Usenet looking for me. That's
fucking marvelous. Of course, I've actually been on Usenet for 16 years,
and I -did- use various aliases back then, so his work's really just

I've been thinking about getting a patent on that, so don't start, you
you may face the most dire of legal consequences!

Of course, I'm pretty sure I stole it from Don Rickles, and if not him,
then probably that Doctor on Scrubs. Or maybe it was Lewis Black.

Actually, my ISP's POP is Chico, which is a nicer place than Redding.
Got a nice big park, and isn't so bloody hot in the summer.

But, given that we had snow where I live two weeks ago, that would
seemingly rule out Redding or Chico as my actual spot of origin.

Zepp thinks he's a really a smart computer guy. I worked for
Microsoft from 1990-2000. I've interviewed thousands of Zepps. And
they all swear that they are as smart as a whip. But the truth is that
Zepp doesn't know shit from Shinola about computers. During our
interviews we would laugh at the Zepps of the world. They are all
self taught "gurus". And they were such fucking morons.

Thanks for the sock puppet report. Zepp talking to himself is not
news. But some of the names are.

unlikely that there is another troll in the same remote region of

As for 'Ray Fischer,' although I can't trace his IP address, he sounds
EXACTLY like you. Not only does he troll the same newsgroups as you,
he trolls the same threads. The difference is while you start
threads, Ray never starts threads and only responds to them.

I'll admit I was mistaken about Ray's use of the word 'bubbles,'
though; AFAIK he hasn't used the term, but you exposed your 'Gandalf
Grey' sock that way.

My biggest clue that Ray and Zepp are the same troll is their
incessant use of the word 'racist.' Even when the OP has made no
reference to race, he is accused of racism. A common leftist debate
tactic to be sure, but a bit suspicious when two trolls IN THE SAME
THREAD use it almost simultaneously.

Then there is 'Peter Principle' who may or may not be Zepp, though his
IP traces back to Austin. But Peter is totally psychotic, and his
sporadic posts suggest he may actually be a mental patient allowed to
use the hospital's computer lab a few times a month as a reward for
not biting the orderlies. Still, once you wade through his profanity-
laden rants, his rhetoric sounds very similar to Zepp's, which I think
suggests a lot about Zepp's own mental state.

Why don't you get the call on line 2. Some older lady needs help

You already said you live on Mount Shasta. Redding is 30mi south.
Your floating IP addresses also have traced back to Whitmore, Mineral,

then perhaps you used a different ISP.

I'm not trying to find your home address, what I am trying to prove is

Zippy still thinks that Missiles hit the Pentagon on 911. And the
controlled demolition took down the Towers. Then he stands in the
middle of the room and calls other people who have demanded to see

Dank666,

Make sure you compare the Usenet credentials of one "Gary De Waay" to
see if they match up with Zepp's, also. I have been double-teamed in
most of my lengthy arguments with Zepp by this De Waay character
joining at some midway point. De Waay is equally as smart-assed and
nonsensical as Zepp. It's too frequent and too coincidental, and I
wouldn't be surprised if Zepp was using De Waay as a dual identity,
sort of like an outnumbered army yelling at the top of their lungs to
make the other side think the army's numbers are greater than they
really are.

Excellent. As always the kernel is ironclad. The KDE desktop has
improved dramatically over the years while Windows has become
stagnant.

Now that most sites have become Linux friendly, IE and the rest
of the hydra from Redmond are unneeded.

"Insignificant socialist parasite"

Gosh. That sounds like something Goebbels might say.

I keep meaning to play around with KDE. I'm adding 4 gigs of RAM and
2 terabytes HD next week, so once that's done I'll probably set the
new drive up with a few partitions and try out some of the other
flavors of Linux.

You don't need anywhere near that much power and you don't
need other Linux installs. You should be able to run the Gnome and
KDE desktops in the same install. It would let you use the same
home directory.

I don't need the power, I agree. Linux is perfectly happy with 256
megabytes of RAM. But I still have to use Windows for my work,
unfortunately.

And I need the storage space. I know Linux is happy with 30gb, but I
am a bit cramped for space. And the best time to partition a drive is
before there is any data on it. It's only another week or so.

No, I think that Obama''s mother **MAY** have manufactured his birth
in Hawaii. But you see, we don't know because Obama wont' let anyone
see his "official vital records" stored away in the archives of the
Hawaii Department of health.

Prior to the digital revolution of the 1980's people routinely
manufactured resumes, employment histories, college degrees, military
service, marriages, divorces, births, deaths etc. IT WAS POSSIBLE.
