I wanted spread the word about a data transparency project called Open
Missouri that I'm working on as a fellow at the Reynolds Journalism
Institute in Columbia.
The centerpiece of project will be an online catalog that provides
details about the databases that Missouri state and local agencies
store offline. I’m hoping the project can serve as a model and
inspiration for other states. I have a team of master’s students from
the Missouri School of Journalism who are busy collecting data
inventories from state agencies. Community members will be able to
contribute their own catalog entries and
attach data file examples.
We've hired a Rails developer who's going to use Sunlight's
Foundation's National Data Catalog code to get a head start. We're
going to make our code open source for anyone who wants to use it.
