Larry, Byron, and I don't want anyone paying for something that doesn't work, so we've decided to take the drastic step of temporarily suspending Spanning Sync sales. Of course, we'll continue to offer service to current subscribers. Once we fully understand how this issue affects the future of Spanning Sync, we'll post an update here.
We sincerely appreciate your support. Please contact us as supp...@spanningsync.com if you have any questions.
For those currently running into this problem, we've heard that there's a workaround, provided that you have an iOS device (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch):
1. Connect the iOS device to your Mac 2. Open iTunes and select the device in the sidebar 3. Select the Info tab 4. Turn on calendar syncing and sync at least one calendar. (Create a "dummy" calendar if you don't want to sync any of your real calendars.) 5. Sync the iOS device with iTunes
Now iCal should be able to sync with Spanning Sync again.
Obviously this isn't an option for everyone, but for those of you with an iPhone looking for a solution NOW, it might get you back up and running. -- Larry Hendricks la...@spanningsync.com http://spanningsync.com http://spanningtools.com

Aaargh! If nothing else, as always, thank you for the straight story! Apple, of course, has nothing and Google is no-one so I've been struggling with this for days.

So this is why the Spanning Sync preference pane states that my paid subscription expires September 1, 2012 instead of (the actual expiration date) June 26, 2012? Good to know.
Also, I've not experienced any problems syncing contacts and calendar events - or at least none that I've noticed. Would someone be able to provide a brief description of the insidious bug so that I can keep an eye out for any problems? I've done a search of the forums and not been able to find a concrete answer as to what problems are being caused by the bug.

I bought Spanning Synch and paid with PayPay on June 14. The license code I received didn't work. Now we know the product is not going to work, so how do I get the charges reversed?

The short answer is that iCal is no longer reporting changes or
additions that are made so we can't sync them to Google. As Larry
stated above, if you sync an iDevice with the computer through iTunes
(at least one calendar), it seems to resolve the problem somehow. If
you're syncing an iPhone or iPod with iTunes that would explain why
you're not experiencing the problem.

Spanning Sync has never used a license key or code. Are you referring
to Spanning Tools for Mac, which does use a license key? If so, can
you please send us an email to supp...@spanningsync.com and include
the email address the license should be associated with?

This is what happened to me. I resolved it by resetting Apple Sync Services. Hold down the ALT key, click on the circular arrows in the top bar, and then Reset Sync Services.

I don't use iCloud or MobileMe, so I had to do some extra work to reset Sync Services. This page <https://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627> gave me the info I needed. I executed the command line/Python script mentioned in step 10 under *Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard and OS X Lion.
*Spanning Sync is now spanning and synching my Mac and Google contacts and calendars.

We also noticed that resetting Sync Services or replacing the sync database appeared to resolve the issue, but the bug comes back after the initial sync is successful. The only way we know that actually appears to work around the bug is by syncing an iDevice with at least one calendar through iTunes.

This worked great for me. Didn't even have to mess with the iPad or iPhone like some described. Appears to be working 2 day. I did have to reset the service twice (not sure why) before it all seemed to kick in.

I added my daughter's iPhone to my Mac and followed the directions below. It seems to have worked. I immediately got a message stating Spanning Sync wanted to make changes. I haven't seen that dialog box in awhile.
I just made a change in Outlook on my calendar and it changed in Google calendar. I then changed the Google calendar appointment but it hasn't changed yet in Outlook. Hopefully it will soon.

I use Spanning Sync for Address Book syncing only (not calendars), and it is not working at all for me right now. I've already sent in a support email with a report attached.

Unfortunately, something "snapped" the other day and I ended up unintentionally deleting my whole calendar. Thank goodness there wasn't a lot to recreate, but I've switched to my Mac's iCal, mail and address book until further notice.
