arxiv lists this term back to 1998:
There are lots of biblio refs that you might reach back into from a
university library. Somewhere they have to trace out the initial use of
the term.
This looks pretty interesting. Don't get too lost. First principles
should be better presented and more accessible. You may be on a tendril
that is branching for the sake of branching e.g. a PhD pump. You seem
to have reached the edge of the internet.
