Ok, that amounts to....... $1333.33 spent for each listener - roughly
speaking of course. Did I get the math right? Is that a valid way
of looking at it?.
Now its possible that there are two people listening to the same
radio. OK......That amounts to.....$666.66 per listener.
Help me out here. Doesn't seem too successful to me.
J.R. Stocks. Could you help me on this?
jw
OK. Radiosophy is extending their sale of HD radios through March.
You can buy this fine plastic radio for $89.00 This might help.
jw
According to Hipporadio on Radio-Info, who is in the broadcast
industry annd electonic sales, only 130,000 HD radios sold, minus
returns, "trade" purchases, and giveaways - maybe, the true number is
around 50,000 in the hands of radio-geeks and consumers.
Jr is too much of a loser to help - perhaps, Stocks could help?
Having to be put on "sale" means no sale. Here is a review from Wired
on that piece-of-crap:
"Remember those crappy $15 AM/FM/cassette radios from the 80s? The
HD100 looks just like one and has the sound to match. Basically a
glorified clock radio, it has a chintzy, careless interface with
speakers that spew a tinny unrefined sound. Frankly we'd be happier
keeping our money and sitting in silence."
If you look at my blog down the right hand side, you will quickly
figure out why HD radios are so expensive, yet cheaply made:
I'll be generous and give iBiquity 100,000 HD radios. So, there are
about 270,000,000 people, and dropping, that listen to radio. So,
wouldn't that leave $2,700 spent on each listener per HD radio?

You need to look at more than the number of sets sold. You will notice
that the HD sets that are available are:
1. Still first generation. They take a lot power using general purpose
DSP components.
2. These first generation sets are being discounted.
3. Big semiconductor players that have the resources are not developing
optimized chip sets that would reduce the power requirement and improve
performance.
4. As a consequence of #3 you don't see any second generation sets
available.
5. Since the big semiconductor makers have dropped out it is left up to
smaller virtual companies without fabrication facilities to pitch a
business plan to investors to get the money needed for a production run
of parts they designed. These parts may or may not work. If they do we
might see samples this summer. Power draw will still be much larger than
analog sets though and I expect that portable devices will need lithium
batteries.
6. HD needs these second generation sets to grow interest in this mode
of broadcasting. Generally, the only interest I see at all in HD is in
the FM band where public service stations actually fill the secondary
channels with different content.
HD is dying and is likely to be around just a few more years at best
unless something changes the playing field.

Actually, it is being called third generation. And you saw the magazine

Could you explain those sales numbers to me. Is $1333.33 per radio

No, I will leave the plagiarism to you. Somebody else already did the "fair

Doesn't look third generation to me. It's first generation going on 2nd
when it happens. It has not happened yet. Now get a clue as there are no
radios with new optimized chip sets because there are no optimized chip
sets to put in them yet. What could your next argument be? That they are
keeping the new radios a secret?

You are just upset that the chips are not going to you for approval.
I told you where a very full article is to be found.
RHF, David Eduardo just showed up in this thread. So, you know what to
do:
1. Stand a foot or so in front of Eduardo
2. Drop to your knees
3. Open your mouth (it'll only need to be open a tiny bit)
4. Suck whatever Eduardo happens to stick in there.

I don't work for them and I'm not buying them so naturally they are not
looking for my approval so why would i be upset.
I want to borrow some money from you to fabricate a new chip design. I
