I saw Cindy Sheehan at the anti-war rally in San Francisco in 2008.
The anti-war movement was always more of an anti-Bush movement, and
collapsed once Bush's wars became Obama's wars, causing Democrat Party
agitprops to abandon it.
The anti-war movement still exists in a much smaller form, now
comprised almost entirely of radical leftists, communists, and
anarchists -- all of whom are opposed to the Democrat Party. The
Democrats are perceived as having aided and abetted Bush's crimes,
especially after Nancy Pelosi blocked all attempts to introduce an
impeachment resolution. This inspired Cindy Sheehan to run against
her in 2008, winning an impressive 17% of the vote compared to only 9%
for the Republican challenger.
Whether one agrees with her or not, Sheehan must be admired for
refusing to abandon her principles for political convenience. It
would be easy for her to join the ranks of Obamatards and forget all
about the war she once protested against, but unlike Obamatards, she
truly opposes the war. The war was wrong when Emperor Bush waged it,
and it is wrong now that Chairman Obama is waging it.
This is why I object when Democrats are described as "leftists," since
real leftists stand by their principles no matter what. To
distinguish between the two, I use the term "leftard" to describe
Democrats. A leftard has no principles, he simply bleats empty
slogans fed to him by the Party. A leftard does not think about what
he is supporting or opposing, which is why he is able to condemn
Bush's war while praising Obama's war. Other issues leftards flip-
flop on include Guantanamo and warrantless wiretapping. Real leftists
still oppose all these things, while leftards suffer from collective
amnesia and forget that they once opposed these abuses of power.
