No. Tradgedy may be Batuik's style, but that sort of creepy isn't.

Really? Compare what Susan is wearing to Lisa's "ideal outfit" . .
.:
Nice catch! Do you have a really good memory for these things, or to
you use the Lisa leaving scene as a screen saver :-)...
Que creepy? Remind me how Susan fits into the Funkyverse?

Depends, what is the difference in their ages? (and do they fit into
the "half plus seven" rule?).
Perhaps I'm incorrect (I often am), but I think Susan is the girl who
had an unrequited crush on Les when she was his student. She then
attempted suicide.
Unless I have her confused with someone else, as a student of Les'
she had a terrible crush on him, and out of jealousy took out of the
outgoing mail basket the recorded marriage proposal that he was
sending off to Lisa when she was in France. Presumably they would
not have gotten married if she hadn't fessed up later. The idea that
she has been waiting all these years for Lisa to die...that sort of
plot might sell in the romance novel market, but I can't see Batuik
going with it.
Not sure about the age difference, but I assume that the "creepiness"
would be due to the fact that he used to be her teacher. It does
happen IRL, but I agree that at some level it seems questionable
because of the difference in power. In this case, even though she is
no longer his student (indeed, is apparently supposed to be a peer),
she _was_ his student when she initially developed a crush on him.
BTW, this was predicted a while ago - I came across this trying to
find Susan's background (since I rarely read FW then or now):

Yah it would be definately creepy if they hooked up shortly after she
graduated from High School (or even college). But after 10+ (or more
years), I wouldn't think as much.

It happened to a friend of mine, although I don't think she had any
crush on her teacher while in school. They had sort of kept in touch
with after each other after graduation. As joke, she invited him to
pretend to be her date to the ten-year reunion. They decided to date
for real after that. They've been married a long time now.

But the suicide thing neatly takes up the Creepy slack.

FWIW Susan was back once before as a student teacher.
At 33 or 34 she is fifteen or so years out of school now and over a decade as teacher. Lots of
water has flowed under that bridge.
You can see her thumbnail at <http://www.funkywinkerbean.com/cast.html> She is five over on the
bottom row.

As _Les's_ student teacher - which given their history didn't
(real-world) make sense.

Yeah, but...
The point is that their relationship (such as it is) was formed when he
was her teacher, whom she had such a strong romantic attachment to that
when it wasn't returned, she attempted suicide. She was again in an
asymmetric situation with him during the student teaching arc. (I don't
read the strip, so I have no idea of how that played out, but I saw the
first strip of the arc and it appeared to me that the attraction was
still there.)
Even with the passage of time, given that there is significant history
(even if one-sided), it seems iffy to me...

Iffy, sure. Icky, not so sure.
It was all on her side though. IMS Les was pretty oblivious about her feelings until the suicide
attempt. It is sort of the equivalent of Katie Holmes having Tom Cruise posters on her wall when
she was a teenager now that relationship is Icky...
