Hi everyone,
Just to let you all know…some of you may already know, but for those who don’t…the library, which is now part of the university library system, doesn’t have a service agreement with the Polytechnic as yet, but we are trying to continue business as usual. On the 25th of January the Polytech and Uni management will be negotiating the library service contract, so hopefully things will be sorted out then. In the meantime would you please carry on making bookings for database, information lit, orientation, subject information sessions etc. We are operating under a different system with fewer staff, so things may be a bit ‘clunky’ at first, but please carry on using us, as the University needs to know how and what services are needed by you. If you can book in advance and give us plenty of warning it would help heaps.
Also- in the past there have been several liaison librarians who were subject specialists (e.g. Susan Pennock –Nursing and Midwifery, myself Art/Design/Fashion etc). We now have only one liaison librarian and this is Jacinda Boivin. The old liaison group has been disestablished so if you have any liaison type questions/queries please contact Jacinda on ex 8312 or Jacind...@library.otago.ac.nz

Hi Merrolee,
I’m not sure who is doing the negotiating on the Polytechs behalf, but I think Robin Day would be a good person to contact in the first instance. If he isn’t doing the negotiating himself, he will know who is.
Remote Services at the Central Library are dealing with all off-campus enquiries from Polytech students that come via our library website. The contact person there is Judy Fisher 479 8940. It may pay to introduce yourself and have a chat about the remote/distance service. I’ll pass your comments on to Susan, they will be very much appreciated, thanks.
Many thanks
Wendy
