New Public Beta of MyLife Organized has been just released.

Please note that this is not the final release. Use it on your own
risk.
However if you want to provide your comments on new features it is the
best time to do it now before I make the final release.
For more details on how to install and configure MLO ActiveSync please

PS. sorry for recent duplicity on another thread...
I reviewed about a dozen outliners yesterday, and chose MLO. And - I really
like it! I've been setting it up this morning.
I have noticed that when I reduce the height of the window enough so that
the vertical scroll bar is displayed in the outliner pane, the text icons at
the right margin of the outliner pane are cut off about halfway across.
This is just visual aesthetics - perhaps for another release.
Thanks!

the issue has been resolved. Please download ver. 1.6.02-beta3 with
this fix form the same location:

Andrey.
Thanks Andrey, seems to work well.
Now I would also suggest to make encoding setup possible. Specifically these two headers:
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="windows-1250"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit
Win-1251 encoding, 7bit, that you use now, is for Russian characters.
Might work fine with US ascii, but doesn't work for Czech alphabet
for example.
I tested with a message and just changing (plain text edit) to Win-
1250 did the job for me. Except for the subject, which still comes
completely unreadable, but that might as well be due to my email
client, just a minor thing for me.
Tom
Thanks.
In my case it fails because my SMTP server requires secure connection
(TLS).
Any workaround?
Thanks
-Jose
I set up the e-mail using a third-party smtp (aside from my ISP) so that I
can use it anywhere I go, and set the port to 465 (that's the port that
works for my Outlook. Port 25 doesn't work with my Outlook), but when I do
that the program freezes when sending out a test message.
I changed it to port to 25, and now everything seems to be working
(including using authentication).
Just to let you know.
Thanks.
Ken
I have to check the hide the task from the to-do list view when I create a
project, and It would be great if one option would take care of this for the
whole program.
Thanks.

IMHO you can use Stunnel.

Sorry did not get your point.
Current beta does contain this featute implemented:
"feature: task notes could be configured to be shown in Properties tab
(Tools->Options->Appearance: Task Notes) "
This is related to:
#F482 Notes in Properties tab - New
http://www.mylifeorganized.net/products/my-life-organized/features-plan.htm
Andrey.
How about giving the user the ability to customize the default alarm option
(such as desktop alerts, etc) so that we don't have to keep adjusting or
modifying the alarm options?
Thanks.
Take care,
Ken
This feature works, but I noticed that if I have a long hyperlink, it works
fine in the task note panel, but the link is broken in the task note
properties tab.
For example,
file:C:\My%20Documents\THE%20IDEA%20OF%20A%
20UNIVERSITY.htm
Take care,
Ken
Sorry I wasn't clear.. I really appreciate this new feature and the
others! But I would like to be able to change the positions of each
property section/frame. For example if I could position the notes frame
vertically adjacent to the other frames or be able to have the 'effort'
and 'project' sections re-arranged and moved vertically next to the
'general' and 'timing' sections to better utilise available screen
space.
If this is not posisibe for the final release could we at least change
the ordering of the task properties? For example I would like to have
my notes at the top. Thanks.
Strange.
For me if I resize the pane (to make it smaller), then when the program gets
restarted (exit and restart), the link is broken. Now I see that it also
happens with the other tab (task note tab) as well.
If I keep the pane large enough, then there is no problem.
Take care,
Ken
Andrey.
The only one issue that's really a stumbling block for me at this point
is #F349, start dates without due dates. Once the 1.6.02 release is out
the door, I'd really love it if you give that some thought and consider
implementing it. It would fulfill the GTD "tickler" idea perfectly,
which is one of the only things really lacking in MLO.
All in all though, you're doing a great job Andrey. The notes on the
properties pane helps a great deal (its not the design of my dreams, but
with a high enough resolution it does the job), and now that I own a WM5
device, PPC Sync is quite fun.
Daniel
Thanks.
Andrey.
On the 'Reminder Window' and the 'Reminder Desktop Alert' can we please
have the option to check off the task as completed? If I simply dismiss
the reminder this is not turned on again when if the task recurs..
Thanks.
Sure, happy to elaborate.
In GTD, David Allen suggests creating a "tickler" file - a series of
folders corresponding to the days in the current month, and the future
months of the year. You put reminders into the file so you don't have
to think about them until a certain date. This link has a good
explanation (search for "tickler"):
http://www.triptronix.net/ishbadiddle/archives/2005/06/19/01.53.20/
In MLO, this can already be done by setting a "Start Date" - the
task doesn't show up on your list until the start date. Perfect!
EXCEPT ... start dates in MLO require "Due Dates". What if the task
doesn't have a due date?
Here's an example. In January, I decide that I'd like to plant some
tomatoes in my garden. However, the ground is frozen, and I can't do
it until April. So I'd like to set myself a tickler on April 1st.
However, it's not "due" on April 1st, or on any other date -
it's just a "Next Action" like all the others on my list. I just
didn't want to see it until the time was right.
This concept is even more useful in cases of recurrence. Consider the
task "Wash my car". I just washed my car this morning. I want to wash
it again, of course, but probably not sooner than 2 weeks from now. So
I'd like the task to recur 2 weeks after I mark it complete. So far, so
good - MLO can do that. However, when it does recur, it's not "due" on
a specific date - I just want to be reminded that it's on my "Next
Actions" list again.
This all comes back to the GTD idea of the "hard landscape". Your
calendar should be sacred - the only things that belong on there are
tasks that absolutely *have* to happen by a certain date: application
deadlines, preparing for meetings, library book due dates, etc. Washing
my car? Planting tomatoes? Those should *not* get dates on my calendar.
They will happen as soon as possible, taking all other contexts and
priorities into account.
I'd be happy to engage you in further design-oriented emails about it,
either on-list or off. I'm a software developer, and I'd be happy to
volunteer my time as a sounding board for ironing out the details of
how this would work in MLO. (I can even do some coding work if you
want! ;)
Ian
ps - GTD is a great book, by the way. If you haven't read it, I'd be
happy to send you a copy (I have two). Just email me at
iva...@spamcop.net with your address (I'll even pay for the
international shipping! :)

No, color coding is not implemented.
That's the short version of the story.
>If I simply dismiss the reminder this is not turned on again when if the task recurs..
If you *dismiss* a reminder or complete a task the reminder *should*
turned on again when task recurs. Please provide me steps, ml file
example where this does not work.
Reminder will not turned on automaticaly only if you switch it of
manualy in task properties.
Andrey
Also used the email function, where 'my' national characters (åäö in
Swedish) were something different when they arrived in my mailbox. This
has been said before, by a Czech user?
>But what if I change the due date for some reason?
>Is the reminder changed too, or not?
Reminder date will be changed depending on difference between current
reminder date and due date. Try it.
>Also used the email function, where 'my' national characters
Will be fixed.
Andrey.
Thank you!

Okay I see that this works as you explained now, thanks.
