Whoever it is you're playing against, don't ever lose track of them, don't
ever offend them and don't ever win too much in one night from them..

too late. they already hate me.

they welcome the resident cheater more than i.

> They're like gold

i lost last night.

and not by choice, either.

an old friend was in town so i put together a game in his honor.

when we were younger, we used to gamble against each other for 12
hours at a time.

w/ Bob Dylan providing the soundtrack.

over the years, we've been telling each other how great we both are at
poker.

how we always win our local games.

so anyway, last night, we both ended up losing in the Texas Hold'em
tournament i through together.

but what a load of laughs we had.

classic stuff.

both thoroughly humbled beyond all expectations.

him more than i, of course.

anyway, he's a beer-drinker, too.

just like moi.

but he's one of those people who doesn't mind having a boss.

i guess he figures that the cash trade-off is worth the loss of
freedom.

way back when, we almost became rock stars together.

but on the way to California, he phoned his Dad to tell him where he
was.

we got as far as Washington, DC, and from my vantage point outside the
7 Eleven, watching him talking on the payphone, i noticed that during
the whole fifteen minute conversation, my buddy never said anything
but "hello" and "goodbye".

all i had to go by was his facial expressions to grasp what his father
was saying to him.

-$Zero...

i'm in it for the kick, not the photo-op.

i'm a lapsed catholic.

who then became an atheist.

who then became a prayerful atheist.

(fervently praying that, if there was a God, that He was nothing like
God's so-called followers).

who then realized that atheists are the biggest sap fools of them all.

(equaled only by the sap fools in every single religious denomination,
bar none).

...

anyway, i don't put much value in facial hair because i can grow a
fantastic beard in less than a week.

and it takes far less time than that to shave one off.

Q: what have you been wrong about?
not much. but i'm pretty lucky that way.
