movies vs books in regards to planning and execution.

with movies, generally, each scene needs to be important to the main
story.

it needs to advance the plot in some perceptible way.

and the dialogue needs to be minimal.

and highly efficient.

with books, rambling on and on in a witty, artful, or otherwise
instructive or entertaining fashion is much more easily tolerated.

of course, this only applies to Hollywood movies.

because making easy money is usually the main concern.
