I get an Error number: 0x8024D007 when trying to run the Windows Update.

Elsewhere, call your local Microsoft subsidiary, or the number for paid
support in your locale--and ask for the free help with virus or
security-patch related issues. This help extends to spyware removal as well.

Other than that, I'm about out of ideas, so good luck with it.

Maybe someone else can conjure up something else to try.

I'm using Win XP SP3, and I have not reinstalled XP.

I've tried dowloading and installing WUAgent, but the error persists
(Although it looks it is failing to register a different dll):

In the same order of the last posts:

1.- Yes, Automatic Updates are enabled. But I've tried stopping the service
(manually from the services screen and using the net stop wuauserv). May it
be interfering in some other way?

2.- Yes, Windows Update Website always worked fine until I tried this Friday.

3.- No, I installed SP3 several months ago (August), and I used Windows
Update several times after that with no issues.

4.- Yes, I dowloaded the agent and manually executed the setup, with the
same result.

5.- No, I have not downgraded to XP: this machine has always had XP

So I've tried running manually the setup with the /wuforce option, but it
still failed with the same error message (I'm attaching the latest log).

Thanks a lot for you help. Let me know if you have some other ideas that I
can try.

0x8024D007 Windows Update Agent could not be updated because
regsvr32.exe returned an error.

Either the update files were never registered properly in the first
place [doubtful since WU functioned before], or security
software/malware is causing this issue, Manel.

What is the installed security software [antivirus, security suite,
antimalware software, etc] ?
Has the system been infected recently ? If not, then suggest you try an
online scan here using Internet Explorer:
http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm

It will take awhile depending upon the size of the Hard Drive and, if
anything is detected.
