Go to TOOL - OPTIONS - COMPOSE
Click on Mail Font settings button

Tools | Options | Compose. Select your default font.

This may be a problem as well:

If you are using stationery, some default to a specific font and size.

Tools | Options | Compose. Make sure nothing is checked or selected in the
Stationery section, including Blank.

In IE: Tools | Internet Options | Accessibility. Uncheck: "Ignore font sizes
specified on web pages".

That works for HTML messages when not over ridden by stationery.

For plain text try Tools | Options | Read | Fonts. Note that you can assign
different fonts to different character sets. And be aware that this only
applies to what you see, not the recipient. Plain text carries no font
information.

For me the problem is solved. I went to regedit and searched for FONTS and
changed every ARIAL that showed up in the right hand colum to VERDANA (use
what ever you want as your default font), rebooted the computer and now my
default is VERDANA. Keep in mind that you will no longer have the original
font available. If later you want it back with XP just restore your system to
a date prior to your change. Thanks for all the replies.

...assuming you have such a Restore Point available when you want it!
(IIWY, I'd use that Restore Point /now/ and then resolve the problem
correctly, Jerry.)

Excuse me? We're all volunteers here, including MS MVPs, and have a life
outside of this forum, especially on weekends, even more so on a holiday
weekend. (If you're living in a cave or under bridge, it's Easter weekend.)

My colleague Bruce Hagen posted a very helpful reply /13 minutes after your
first post/ yet you didn't reply to it:
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress/msg/473ea247ccb2832e

My colleague Frank posted a helpful reply and you didn't reply to it either:
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress/msg/328e327c10426fd1

There are hundreds of previous discussions about the topic, as well, and
you'll find replies from all 3 of us (and more) in them:
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress/search?hl=en&group=microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress&q=default+%2B+font

Have a /wonderful/ day, Jerry!
