I too have sen this but not in a Merlin server environment. I was just storing the file on a network drive for use in a stand alone copy of Merlin. I had same symptoms as Alex, file existed but was a blank (empty) project. I now store local files and have time machine backing them up and just archive to our network server when the project is complete.

What about a feature request to include auto back-ups.

The past few week we have had several users having the same problem. When they want to do a manually save, it wont. Then Merlin crashes and deletes the file that was open at that point. This happen both when working local or from servers. The save file is completely gone. One user had it happen twice within two days, she merged projects and when she, after working on it for several hours wanted to save it crashed. She now copy pasted instead of merging (but she still need to have the old files for reference). Is there a fix to this or atleast a "dont do this".  We are loosing lots of hours on this.

kind regards

This has just happened to me again - I clicked 'Save As' and then chose to overwrite the existing file. The current file is now blank.

This is so frustrating - Merlin really is the best there is on Mac but is far behind MS Project in terms of being a viable tool in a business environment. Looks like I'm staying late again because of Merlin...

Hello Alex,

Thank you for your comment,

please ensure you have the most recent version of Merlin in use. Also please export the Project file as Merlin XML and then open it and save it as Merlin project. You also should ensure, that the project file is located on your Macs local hard drive.

Thanks.

Greetings
Antoni

Hi

I am using the latest version of Merlin - 2.9.

I can't export the project as an XML file because Merlin has blanked the project. Also, I did try this when I noticed it crashing and it failed to do so. I did manage to get a CSV export to work after the XML export failed but the import options aren't sufficient to rebuild the project from a CSV (many of the fields available in the CSV are not in the matchable list - e.g. % complete).

(Like most companies) employees are expected to save files to a network drive. I cannot change this and if Merlin is to become a professional product it needs to support writing to network drives properly. 'Working locally' really shouldn't be presented as a solution to Merlin customers.
