Feature Rationalization: Food and Drink

meantime, new mappers are making choices that, while occasionally
justifiable, aren't the most appropriate.
Let's look at the features in the Food and Drink category (taken from
Help). I'll add comments after each one.
--Bars, should be singular, Bar
--Beverages. Ok, the feature hierarchy in order of increasing
specificity is "Food and Drink">Beverages>Coffee, I guess.
"Beverages" wouldn't be a bar, but no coffee (or tea?). I think this
one should be deleted.
--Cafe. Seems ok, as an informal restaurant
--Coffee. Maybe Coffee/Tea Shop? Not a Coffee Shop, which, in US
culture at least, is more than a Starbucks. (I don't intend to be US
centric.)
--Cookware. Should be Cookware Shop.
--Culinary Training. Should be a subtype of school and labeled
Culinary School.
--Farmer Market. Ok, I guess, but these are usually temporary, maybe
once/week. I'd suggest deleting.
--Food and Drink. What is the appropriate use of this top level, most
generic feature? I'd suggest deleting. As a minimum it needs a
restaurant type icon.
--Food Retailers. What's this, knowing there's a Grocery Shop,
Market, Super Market, Vegetable Market?
--Grocery Shop. I guess this is a small food market with produce/
vegetables, meat, and dry goods?
--Internet / Cyber Cafe. Barely ok, especially considering the places
that are mostly gaming where snacks/coffee are available.
--Market. Ok.
--Recipes. Huh? Delete.
--Restaurants. Should be singular, Restaurant. Covers white
tablecloth, formal places and "holes in the wall," but not street
vendors.
--Super Market. A large Grocery Shop?
--Vegetable Market. But no butcher?
Wasn't there a Fast Food feature? Can't find it now. If it was
deleted, great.
Anyway, hoping for some discussion.

Convent - where nuns live as a community is not a category or feature at present. This may be added
College - Where university level education is offered. This feature was available earlier

features. Otherwise it will get too confusing. I would suggest that
there be a thread on schools, including universities and another one
on religious sites, which could include convent, monastery, temple,
and so on. I agree that convent and college, along with other
features that have disappeared like landmark, should be restored.
It would be helpful to know if there is an inventory of features that
are missing and which are expected to be restored.

You can still use University, School and several other relevant
categories, such as Research Institute in place of the previous
Educational Institute. Does that help?

If some kind of manual, legend or blog for GMM is there which could
explain "what exactly is meant by each of these categories" and
"what's new" and "what was removed" is there, then that could be
great. or is it already there.. I really dont know about it.
I find it difficult to mark motor workshops, tyre works etc..
Also a street vendor area if available, would be great
