I just uploaded an image of the south lunar limb to the group files
section:

File Name CAshcraft_20090131_2224UT
Name of observer: Clif Ashcraft
Email address of observer: wa2...@optonline.net
Aperture of telescope: 184 mm
Focal length of telescope: 2578 mm
Type of camera used: The Imaging Source DMK31
Camera detector dimensions: 1024x768 pixels (uncropped)
Exposure information: 0.033 seconds
Time and date of exposure: 2009-01-31 UT 2224
Location from which exposure was taken: Perrineville, NJ

Conditions were a bit steadier than last night, but still only
average seeing. I just got the image in twilight before a mass of
clouds moved in.

Why does no one include links to their images???

I might actually look at one if it didn't take half an hour and 25 mouse
clicks to get to one..

Derek:
Two clicks: first is the link at the bottom of the page (http://
groups.google.com/group/lcross_observation?hl=en), and the second is
"files" and you're there.

Derek,

Clif and the others are doing their best to follow the guidelines laid
down by the group's founder, although it is admittedly becoming harder
and harder to associate images with messages.

In addition to Clif's suggestion, I have been trying to create a
graphical index consisting of a table that connects each image that
has been posted to the message that went with it. You can find the
table at:

http://groups.google.com/group/lcross_observation/web/index-to-images

Alternatively, click on the Pages link:

http://groups.google.com/group/lcross_observation/web

in the navigation panel at the right of the screen and look for "Index
to Images". This last method has the advantage that under "Recent
pages and files" you will see a list of recently uploaded files.

The graphical index is not complete because I have not tracked down
the messages that went with many of the older files. Anyone who would
like to is most welcome to help. If you find the message connected to
the image, use "More options...Individual message..." to a get a URL
for it in your browser's address bar. Then paste this link into the
appropriate box in the table, labeling it "Support data" or
"Explanation" (spend a second studying the index to see how this has
been done in the past). Adding links in this way is very easy.

Adding new images to the table (they are currently in chronological
order) is a bit more difficult. I do this by clicking the "Edit HTML"
button and copying one of the existing sections between the <TR> and </
TR> delimiters (which define a row in the table), then pasting over
the old image name with the new one, etc. You get a chance to Preview
the change, and if it isn't satisfactory you can cancel.

Two files were uploaded to the group files section, the first of the
south limb of the moon, the second of the north limb:

The observations were made under above average seeing conditions
using the DMK31 camera at the f/14 focus of my 7.25" Schupmann medial.
The resulting 30 sec long, 900 frame .avi files were processed using
Registax4 and then rotated and cropped in PhotoShop.
