Does anyone know who is making Johnson 18 boat covers at a reasonable
price these days?

A friend has a Harken cover but I do not see it listed any longer.

Thanks
Mark

This came up about a year ago and as I recall you can order from Harken.
If they will not sell direct I have had good luck getting parts through
West Marine's special order desk.

I found this on the Harken website (note that it's www.harkencanvas.com,
the Harken.com site offers no joy).

http://www.harkencanvas.com/j18.php

I bought a Harken cover about a year ago, and like it. Not love it,
but it's fine. It was about $450 at the time, but I had to call
Harken to decipher what the various names of their covers meant. If I
remember correctly (never a good bet), I got the "Mooring Deck"
cover. Not the Sunbrella version. I also got a cover for the jib,
but I don't remember whether that's their "sail cover" or their "UV
sock".

As you can tell, I don't remember much.

Absolute ditto to the above. I bought one two years ago. Its Ok but no
t perfect. I talked to a lady at Harken and asked if she knew the
Johnson 18. She said "I bet I sewed your orginal cover 15 years ago".

I'm having a replacement sunbrella cover built now - more to follow. The old sunbrella was still serviceable, but somone nicked it, probably to make a tent out of..

I spoke to my canvas guy at our local North loft. He will do Sunbrella covers for Eighteens if anyone is interested. My last Sunbrella cover lasted 15+ years and would still be working if some itinerant can collector hadn't added a lanai to his palatial estate. I'm in Hawai'i and fabrics fade fast here. Sunbrella has recenty upgraded their warranty on marine fabric to 10 years. Info: http://www.sunbrella.com/na/warranty.php
