I need some help with Hugin. I had it working on a new computer, but
then it stopped creating output photos. I get the Hugin PTO and
makefiles in the output directory, but no photo (tiff). I also tried
searching the whole hard drive and could not locate the output photo.
Since it Hugin worked correctly on this computer before, I am assuming
I changed a setting that caused this problem. I also tried
uninstalling and re-installing with the clear registry option, but
that didn't fix it. Can anyone help me out?

More information on my setup:
- Windows 7 SP1 64-bit
- Hugin Version: 2011.4.0.cf9be9344356 built by Matthew Petroff
downloaded from the Hugin web page
- I was trying to stitch a panorama, which I have done dozens of
times. I used the assistant tab to load, align, and create panorama.
Everything looks normal, and there are no error messages. However, no
jpg/tiff file is created, only the project file and make file.
Is there a way to download an older Hugin version? The other people
paolobenve linked to are also using 2011.4.0. Also, I never had this
problem on an older version on a different machine (which I no longer
have access to).

Unfortunately, I can't help you much with windows specific issues as I don't use hugin under windows, However, an installation on my wifes laptop behaved correctly, e.g. the PTBatcherGui (called "Batch Processor" under windows) starts up and lets you process the project.
Can you try to start the batch processor manually?

The use of the batch processor by default for generating the output was one of the main changes in 2011.4, if I remember correctly. It may be that remnants of older installation settings inhibit its startup now. In the "File->Preferences" Menu under the "Stitching" tab, you can use the "Load defaults" button to reset the settings. If this doesn't work, I'd recommend to deinstall all hugin versions you may have installed and reinstall 2011.4 from a freshly downloaded copy of the installation. Please make sure you chose the "clean registry settings" (it may ve called differently, I don't remember the precise text anymore, sorry) tickbox in the setup menu in order to get rid of settings from the older versions.

Sorry, no clue (haven't had this problem) but wondering if there were pathname changes? Or character set changes in filenames? I seem to recall that afflicted the Mac version, but I guess you're running the Windows version.

Any updates to this problem? My details: Hugin version 2012.0.0 Window 7, 64 Bit
It was rendering panoramic images just fine. Suddenly it stopped working one day and it won't work anymore. I've uninstalled and re-installed numerous times, and it still won't output.
I'm using .exr (HDR) images as input, and it seemed to break after I went to the Stitcher tab and under Panorama Outputs I ticked the box High Dynamic Range, format EXR. I did this because I preferred .exr images rather than .tif. I changed these settings back to the way it was before and it still doesn't work. I restored everything back to default settings, still no luck.
Now I'm working on my laptop (still Windows 7, 64 bit) and it's working. But I would rather work on my desktop, also I'm concerned that I might invoke the same problem onto this laptop, thereby leaving me no computers to work with at home.

Without further details it is nearly impossible to help you.
First check the preferences: on the tab stitching the processor
PTBatcherGUI should be selected and the option immediately start
should
be checked. (or press "Load defaults"). Now close preferences with Ok.
Then start PTBatcherGUI (File->Run batch processor"). If you don't see
a window, check the tray area (beside the clock) and open PTBatcherGUI
from the context menu on the icon.
Probably the batch queue is mixed up. Delete the queue (File->Clear
batch). Now go back to Hugin and press stitch. After specify the
output prefix, the project should appear in PTBatcherGUI and the
stitching starting.
I have never been able to create jpeg or tiff files since I installed Hugin. I have uninstalled and re-installed.
Deails are:

I can always create .pto files, but never jpeg or tiff files. I've tried using PTBatcherGUI and Hugin_stich_project. I've also tried running batch processor manually and get the following error:
'C:\Users\Don' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. The system cannot find the path specified. make: *** [info] Error 1 I've also tried everyone elses options to fix it, but nothing changes.

Created new user name as suggested, but although the batch gui starts and runs for 10 seconds or so if PTBatcherGUI is selected in preferences, it terminates without any obvious utput and there is still nojpeg or tiff or opportunity to save as a jpeg or tiff. If "Hugin_stitch_project" is selected, I get exactly the same error message as previous.
Maybe I could try a completely different user name? Although creating a new user name, copynig the profile, files, etc is a bit of a pain with Windows 7 as I have now found out!

Sorry, I've used up my WAGs. I could have sworn there was an option somewhere in PTBatcherGUI to save the log even for successful stitches? (If not, there should be one!!!)
I run Hugin on Linux and haven't had it simply not generate something - an image or an error message.
I think others on the list have mentioned problems stitching on Windows 7?

I have always problems when there are national characters in path
names. Can't really remember what os (have hugin on both win and mac)
but unless I make sure path names are latin characters, either control
points detection or stitching fails. Funny how GUI still works, like
there is any use in that )
Yes, I once had problems because of this, I believe it was with WinXP, and
it took me quite some time to understand where the problem came from. So
now I always create Windows users without any special character.

I think the problem may be that although I have uninstalled and performed a clean install of Hugin since creating the new account (DonandSue), and I am working under the new account, Hugin is still using the old account name in the path when it is doing the stitch.

Yes, this seens to be the problem. Your Hugin installation is fresh, but
the hugin project is still the old one...
Most problably the previous installation would work with a new (or
modified project) with file names/path names with problematic characters.
To avoid starting your stitch project again, ou can try to edit the .pto
file and change the path names to the new names.
Now I also avoid using accented letters, etc in my paths and project
names. If this does not cause major problems when I use the linux Hugin,
this still truncates (from the special character on) the progress messages
that appear for each photo when running the Hugin Batch Processor.
By now you should have had success with Hugin... if not yet, you surely
will! Best luck!

have you read the mentioned FAQ?
Maybe you copied the TEMP/TMP path setting from the old user to the
new user. This is a windows setting (on per user basis). So
reinstalling Hugin will not help, if you copy the setting from the
other user.

Im sure the problem relates to the set-up of the user accounts. Although I have created a new user called DonandSue, when I, for example, perform Start, then enter CMD, I get the old DOS prompt, but the path is C:\Users\Don&Sue, i.e. there is still some residuals of the old user and I'm not sure how to fix this. I used Profile Wizard to copy the profile from the old user to the new one originally, but I know there are still files under C:\Users\Don&Sue. I'm struggling with what I need to do to remove all mention of the old user and have everything referencing the new user.
