Disqus Encoding Issues

Hello Everyone,

We are developing a shopping cart portal in Swedish. We are using
ISO-8859-1 character encoding for the portal. We used Spring MVC
framework for development and Tomcat 6.x for deployment. The portal is
running on Ubuntu 10.2 OS.

We integrated the Disqus (through Javascript) in the shopping cart
portal. In IE 8.x/9.x browser, the disqus section in my page is
displaying the Swedish characters in junk characters/characters with
boxes (for example Sortera efter: populã¤rast, visa senaste fã¶rst,
visa ã¤ldst fã¶rst), however the same page in Firefox3.x./4.x and
Chrome is showing proper Swedish characters.

Can you please shed some light how to resolve it.

Hi Ramu,

we are experiencing a similar problem: if the page is encoded in iso-8859-1, then when calling disqus through the api, the thread title returned is not correct.

We think that disqus is not processing the page encoding before obtaining information about the page itself.

Can someone from disqus ellaborate on this issue?

I see the same problem with one of our Danish domains. If I refresh the page the text reverts to the correct formatting again, so it is only upon the first page view the problem occur. 

The problem is only present with IE.
