Hey CCIWG peeps,

Happy Thanksgiving!!

The Sloan foundation deliverable for the Infrastructure Working Group
summary and lessons learned is available for public viewing edit and
feedback. We are sending to this Infrastructure-Working-Group first
to be given first opportunity for feedback/updates, and will be open
to the wider crisis commons starting EOD tomorrow.

This includes a summary of technology current state, and some vision
and capability assessment of future state. There are models to
reflect Current State of Application and Technology Architecture, and
Future 0-2 year states for these views (hope to get a 3-5 year
updated). Would like some validation of current-state technology stack
for instance (Andrew/Spike). A current functional mapping of
technology-tool to capability is also included, as well as a
capability maturity model of the infrastructure that lays out some
future state. Additionally, an exhaustive analysis of the environment
was collected and included in this document from various means,
including this google group, the wiki for working group minutes, and
notes from the congress. Thanks to HeatherB for pulling this all
together.

So please feel free to add your comments or questions or update
accordingly (The diagrams themselves I did in visio, so if you have
particular comments or want changes or tweaks to these, just iterate/
bullet-point in the google-doc).

Thanks!!
Deborah

Good morning,

The CrisisCommons Infrastructure Working Group Sloan deliverable is available for general community review/comments until 6pm, Feb 27.  This is one of the last deliverables that the community has been working on collecting and organizing content for review.

A couple key points:

  • Summary and survey of current tools used, and their administrative owners and status
  • Outline a perspective of the current and future state architecture models (0-2 years, a 3-5 years 'dream' state is still in progress).
  • Various models of application and technology current and future state, and painting a sustainable vision for the future
  • A capability maturity model of infrastructure capabilities in support of the Commons, that will support the formalization of a future state roadmap.

Forwarding this from the CrisisCommons Infrastructure Working Group (http://groups.google.com/group/crisiscommons_cciwg/browse_thread/thread/6a299fd1b4f03c8)

Thanks,
Deborah Shaddon
CrisisCommons Infrastructure Working Group Lead (CCIWG)

It looks really great!

I've made a start at going through it - I should finish this today.
Thanks very much for doing this - I'm in awe!

Hi Deborah!

I've just finished going through your wonderful document. I've made a
few changes and added a few comments.

One thing that is not covered or mentioned is that as well as aiming to
avoid having human "single points of failure" for tool admining we
should try to spread these functions across time zones.

Best regards
Spike
