OLPC blog draws fire for failure to disclose

,----[ Quote ]
| The OLPC News website in the past months has build up a reputation for
| sharply criticizing the $100 laptop project headed up by Nicholas Negroponte.
|
| [...]
|
| So it doesn't take too much of a conspiracy theorist to believe that Intel is
| secretly bankrolling the OLPC-News website.
|
| Adding insult to injury, OLPC-News is buying advertising on Google to attract
| visitors to its website.

Just like Microsoft. This is criminal. Intel and Microsoft would make a nice
pair in a prison cell (if only they were not above the law).

Laptop Project Blames Intel for Breakup

,----[ Quote ]
| Negroponte said Intel even tried to undo a deal One Laptop had already sealed
| in Peru by citing flaws in the One Laptop "XO" machine and telling government
| ministers "we ought to know, because we are on the board." Such hostile
| comments were prohibited, Negroponte claimed, under the July peace treaty
| that brought Intel into the One Laptop Per Child camp.

| said. "There's not one single thing in their contract or agreement that they

Intel: doing the dirty on OLPC

,----[ Quote ]
| Intel’s agreement with the OLPC Foundation included a ‘non disparagement’
| clause, under which Intel and One Laptop promised not to criticize each
| other, according to Nicholas Negroponte in the latest article in the Wall
| Street Journal.
|
| Still Intel tactics have violated that repeatedly to kill OLPC efforts in
| Nigeria, Libya, Pakistan, India, China and Intel is also still trying to pull
| those tactics in Mexico, Brazil.
| This is simply disgracefull of Intel, scandalous.
|
| But Negroponte has signed an agreement saying that he is not allowed to
| criticize Intel, so he is not allowed to talk about these shameless tactics
| even though Intel is the one violating the agreement.
|
| So only independant voices on the Internet can get those messages of truth
| out about Intels tactics.
|
| In Nigeria, Intel came and donated 3000 laptops to counter OLPC efforts, then
| sells 17 thousand Classmates to Nigeria at a loss.
|
| Then Microsoft corrupted Nigerian officials with 400 thousand dollars to
| install Windows XP on those instead of Mandriva Linux.

If you'd actually bothered to do a little research yourself, you would have
found out that. A) The person in question was never an Intel employee. He
worked for a company called GeekCorps that was a buisiness partner of
Intels. B) the article in question where this was revealed was over a year
old, and since that time the person in question quit GeekCorps. C) Even
the ex-CTO of OLPC (who just left to start her own company, which you've
lauded) says He's not affiliated with Intel.

See:
http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=416106&cid=22017038

What's more, the person in question has actually been very positive about
OLPC, even though other authors on the site have had some negative
articles.

But hey, anything to drive your agenda, right Roy? It's not like all this
wasn't known at least a *DAY* before you posted this.

He's continue to post it in other forums since then, too. It looks like

One could begin to believe that maybe it's just a person site, until you
realise that the guy who writes "OPLC News" actually works for Intel on
the competing Classmate PC, and he's *bought* advertising at Google for
his "personal blog" which just happens to have taken the name of a
project which competes with his day job.

What an appalling state of affairs.

We already know his real name (Gary Stewart), so he might as well just accept
the fact that his pseudo-anonymity is worthless. FWIW, I have never in my
entire life nymshifted (the shills are spreading such FUD here and elsewhere).
As a joke, once in COLA I posted a single post as "Anonymous Coward" and left
my sig in fact so that it doesn't confuse. It was a thread where others did
this too.

Take your blinders off.

1.Roy posts here as anonymous coward, whether it was on purpose or not, he
admits it.

2. Out of all the millions of posts on Slashdot to pick, the same nym shows
up there in a thread that is related directly to Roy and his FUD.

3. The style is right out of the Schestowitz play book and so is the
formatting.

Are you that naive?

The difference between Roy and me is that I am not trying.
He is.

Ahhahhahahha! Are you that stupid? the nym Anonymous Coward shows up all
over the place. It's probably the most common one I've seen on forums and
lists, even on Distrowatch. Are you suggesting they are *all* Roy?

Shame on you.

You've been busted Roy. It's not libel it's opinion and is backed up by
some pretty decent circumstantial evidence, unlike most of the garbage you
post.

I'd love to see it in a court of law.
You admit you post here as anonymous coward.
There is currently a thread here that is proving you to be liar with
regards to the Intel/OLPC topic.
Out of the blue, a person using the same exact nym, right down to the
letter, *just happens to post* into that exact thread on Slashdot.

Additionally, the writing style, the paragraph formatting and the
vocabulary, right down to your condescending narcissistic style, is a
pretty good match for your typical SPAM posts.

The jury won't even have to leave the jury box to deliberate.
A raise of hands will be more than enough to convict you.

As for you not reading my posts, who cares?
I certainly don't.

Boy are you naive.
What do you think the chances of what I pointed out happening are?
Same timing.
Same topic.
Same name.

BTW I could care less about Roy nymshifting.
All good COLA Nuts do it from time to time.

Something should be done to shut that site down immediately. This is
absolutely disgusting. It is presented as though it's one of the
official portals for the OLPC, but is in fact an Intel Shill running a
sabotage effort. Will those evil bastards stoop to any level to sabotage
a charity?

I would say Roy, Mark, [Homer], lately Linonut and at the moment you, are

Poaster isn't a COLA Nut. He's just completely nuts, along with 7.

Why is it so difficult for you to connect the dots?
None of those statements by themselves means much in terms of probability.
Put them all together and you have one heck of a coincidence.
Too much of a coincidence to have just "happened" in my opinion.
Just like the digg ID techguy disappeared after Roy was accused of
nymshifting over there, and it was similar with similar paragraph
formatting and writing style.

Look I could care less, I'm only pointing out that your hero has a few
chinks in his tinfoil suit and that you guys are being taken for one hell

You'll see. Someday it will all come out and of course you Linux kooks will
re-write history to make it disappear.
But you won't be able to this time because all the evidence has been
archived in Google.
