Actually there is some truth in that cartoon. Copy protection,
challenge response, web based authorization and so forth is a HUGE
time waster.
Things like iLok (a hardware key) are great because all you do is
plug the key in and the program works.
That's until you either lose or break the key.
Then, unless you have insurance, it becomes a huge and I mean huge
PITA to recover what you rightfully own.
IMHO copy protection schemes, DRM etc only inconvience the honest
people. The bad guys almost always find a way around it.
I agree, what would Ahlstrom say if it were the products he is QAing
that were pirated?
He would be singing a different tune I'm sure.
