VANCOUVER - A man charged with being an associate of the Hells Angels
is looking forward to moving on with his life and working with horses
on his parents' farm after being handed a conditional sentence for
trafficking cocaine, says his lawyer.
Chad (Greg-Notice the HA in CHAd? Just like Chad Proctor who turned
informant.) James Barroby, 30, was sentenced this week in B.C. Supreme
Court in Vancouver on trafficking charges stemming from his arrest in
2005. The arrest was part of a multi-million-dollar undercover RCMP
investigation - dubbed Project E-Pandora - targeting the East End
chapter of the Hells Angels.
The operation led to the arrest of 18 Hells Angels or their alleged
associates. Barroby and two others suspected of being Hells associates
pleaded guilty to trafficking charges last June.
On Wednesday, Justice Peter Leask sentenced Barroby to 18 months of
house arrest and banned him from carrying firearms for 10 years. He
must also complete 100 hours of community service, abide by a curfew
and remain within B.C.
The charge of committing an offence in association with a criminal
organization was dropped.
Jason Gratl, one of Barroby's two lawyers, told Canwest News Service
his client is "relieved the process is over" and looks forward to the
day "when the embarrassment and shame of the offence is forgotten."
(Greg-Hopefully it never will be. the offence is bad enough but he is
also a part of a despised criminal/terrorist org namely the Hell's
Angels. As far as I am concerned so are his parents.)
He said the sentence handed to his client, who has no previous record,
was just.
"Mr. Barroby was in no way responsible for decision-making,
co-ordinating, setting the prices (or) negotiating," the lawyer said.
"His involvement was limited to storing and delivering the substance."
(Greg-That is a very important part of the process. Following orders
is very important to HAMC. The 81 ppl very strongly value loyal foot
soldiers who can follow orders.)
Gratl said Barroby is "no arch criminal" and was a "very minor figure"
in the operation. He declined to comment on Barroby's alleged links to
the Hells Angels or whether he has friends in the notorious motorcycle
club.
(Greg-A lawyer with good ethics. He is to be commended for that.)
Federal Crown prosecutor Martha Devlin said the trafficking charges
involved 26 ounces of cocaine that Barroby delivered to a police
agent.
(Greg-That much cocaine is worth around 45k. Serious money to the
majority of Cdns.)
She said the Crown had been seeking a three-year sentence while the
defence had asked for a 12-month conditional sentence.
(Greg-The Crown should perhaps appeal.)
David Pearse and Kerry Ryan Renaud, the alleged associates who also
pleaded guilty to trafficking charges last June, are to be sentenced
in September.
Devlin said three more trials arising from Project E-Pandora will be
before the courts in the next 14 months.

in this case a man sold 4 ounces of cocaine and before that another
amount of cocaine. He received 18 months jail and 18 months probation.
[9] It is also true that a conditional sentence can have a deterrent
aspect.
However, it must be pointed out that, from the point of view of
preventing a
recurrence of the offence, even house arrest would not necessarily
prevent a
return to drug trafficking. However, the much more compelling reason
to reject a
conditional sentence in this case is simply that it would be an
inadequate
response given, first, the local circumstances, second, that this was
a purely
commercial operation, third, the large quantity of cocaine sold and,
finally, given
the lack of any exceptional circumstances.
[10] Imposing a conditional sentence in this case would erode not only
the
deterrent effect on would-be traffickers, but would also indicate to
the public at
large that the courts have abdicated their responsibility to respond
in an
appropriate fashion to crimes so corrosive in their effect on our
community.
I guess Judge Leask figures if your parents are wealthy and you are
part of HAMC you deserve a better sentence. I think Judge Peter Leask
should be removed from the bench and that there should be a way for
the public at election time to vote out a judge.
http://scc.lexum.umontreal.ca/en/2008/2008scc23/2008scc23.html a man
convicted of selling around 8 ounces of blow gets three yr sentence
plus the eight months he spent in custody.
I'm no expert but this sentence by Judge Leask seems outrageously low.
Has he been threatened by violence? Does he have sex with HA ppl? Has
he done drugs with bikers and HA found out? Is he taking bribes? All
of the before typed?

Former jail guard sentenced for helping gangster escape

Omid Tahvili escaped from a correctional institution in B.C. (Greg-Pic
at url below.)
METRO VANCOUVER -- Former jail guard Edwin Ticne was sentenced to 39
months in prison Friday for helping a notorious gangster escape last
year from the North Fraser Pretrial Centre.
B.C. Supreme Court Justice Peter Leask, in sentencing the 45-year-old
in New Westminster, said he believes it was the first case in Canada
of a corrections officer being convicted of aiding the escape of a
prisoner.
He added he is confident that it will be extremely difficult time to
be served by Ticne and suggested the former jail guard be released on
parole at the earliest opportunity.
It is considered dangerous for prison guards or police to serve time
behind bars because of possible retaliation by criminals.
(Greg- Yeah and it is really easy for a thief to serve time with
manslaughter ppl, v for violent types and bikers. It is a lot of fun
for a 65 yr old woman beater to serve time with 20 something wilding
types and crackheads who act out violently. The only thing worse than
cocaine dealing HAers and b and e artists is a corrupt law enforcement
officer or prison guard. They know what the system is like and
therefore should do their jobs legally and guide their personal lives
accordingly. These ppl are just criminals facing retaliation by fellow
criminals. Just like a scammer who ripped off the mother of a bank
robber in a swindle might face retaliation.)
Crown prosecutor Wendy Dawson, who asked the judge to impose a
sentence in the upper range between five and 10 years, said outside
court that the Crown will considering appealing the sentence.
(Greg-Good. He deserved ten yrs.)
Defence lawyer Reg Harris told the judge that a sentence of two to
three years would be appropriate. The only similar case the Crown
could find involved a prison guard in New Zealand, who was sent to
prison for five years for his role in an attempted escape.
Ticne pleaded guilty last April to accepting a bribe in exchange for
helping gangster Omid Tahvili escape. A surveillance video viewed in
court showed Ticne leading Tahvili, 37, who was wearing a janitor's
uniform, through a series of locked doors at the jail at night and
exiting through the front door.
The court heard that Tahvili promised to meet Ticne at a gas station
and pay him $50,000. Ticne never received any money. At the time of
the escape, Tahvili was facing sentencing after being found guilty of
the kidnapping and torture of a Surrey man.
(Greg-The torture was of a homosexual nature.)
After his escape, Tahvili was sentenced in absentia to a six-year
prison sentence. He's also facing extradition to the U.S., where he is
accused of running a telemarketing scam that victimized seniors.
The sentencing hearing was told by Dawson earlier today that Tahvili
has contacted Coquitlam RCMP and is trying to negotiate his return to
B.C., a sentencing hearing was told today. Tahvili recently called
RCMP and said he was in Toronto. Call display also showed he was
calling from a Toronto number, although police are skeptical about
Tahvili being in Canada.
(Greg-His home has been firebombed.)
Police initially believed he fled to his native Iran, which does not
have an extradition treaty with Canada.
Tahvili's escape was the first from the maximum-security North Fraser
Pretrial Centre since it opened in 2001. The jail houses prisoners
awaiting trial or in custody on immigration detention warrants.
There was another escape earlier this week when Dean Douglas Sykes,
39, swapped identification with a prisoner serving time on weekends,
causing Sykes to be released.
Sykes was posing as Timothy Broadbent, 42, and was given Broadbent's
personal effects, including the keys to his 1993 Plymouth Voyager van.
Sykes was recognized early this morning when he went into a store at
Bridal Falls, where he joked with the clerk that he looked like the
guy whose mug shot was on the front page of the Province newspaper.
The store clerk agreed and called police, who arrested Sykes on the
highway near Hope after 5 a.m.

Judge Peter Leask is a disgrace to the judiciary and not only should
he be removed from the bench but a mechanism should be set up to allow
the public to vote out Judges at election time. Let your MP or a local
newspaper editor know this.
HA
is involved with
extortion, homicide, kidnapping, prostitution, meth and cocaine
dealing, rape, armed robbery and motorcycle theft and child
pornography
as well as phony currency and witness intimidation and obstruction of
justice. They have been known to bribe and scare law enforcement
officers and judges into doing their bidding. These ppl must be
rooted
out of the Cdn justice system. Two judges have actually done their
job
and declared HAMC a criminal org and the Victoria Times-Colonist is
calling for it to be banned as a terrorist org.
"The Hells Angels should be treated as a domestic terror organization.
We should encourage those who make and enforce our laws in their
efforts to eradicate them."

The White Rock chapter Sgt.Of Arms, Villy Roy Lynnerup, recently was
arrested for trying to board an airplane at YVR
with a loaded firearm. Was probably going to crash the plane into the
Downtown courthouse or hold the passengers hostage in exchange for
the
release of Moms Boucher and all imprisoned full patch members. All
the
Hell's Angels, their supporters, associates etc. should be imprisoned
for twenty years
their children put in foster care and their assets seized.
Ppl are trying to get HAMC listed as a terrorist org. If you support
this
then write letters to editors of local newspapers and your local MP.
As well John Les the solicitor-general of BC before he resigned has
advocated banning
the wearing of gang colours such as biker patches in bars. Perhaps
John VanDongen can finish the job he started. Since HA
is
known to frequent Brandi’s and the Cecil and has links to
various bars in BC that would be an improvement. The gang has a
history of intimidating
bartenders, infiltrating unions involved in the bar industry, beating
and killing strippers and beating customers to death at random for no
reason. Contact your MLA as well as the local media and tell them you
want this implemented sooner rather than later.
VPD is appealing again for info about the homicide of Maria Yvette
Monzon who was shot dead on the westside of Vancouver. She was killed
by HA but the police have never stated that. There is a reward.
Colleen Reiter (Ryder?) of Surrey was killed by HAMC but the RCMP
refuse to confirm this.

Let the Feds investigate!
Face it, BC and Alberta need to get their own versions of the Ontario
Provincial Police and Québec's Sûreté du Québec because the GRC suck.
Spend the money, invest in justice.
