So it seems we have at least 4 people on the list building a Rostock - Me, Tim, Charles, and Bryan if I remember correctly from the names I just read off of the other thread 5 seconds ago.
So we should probably all share some parts. Or rather, I should share my parts - I ordered screws from McMaster and many of them came in packs of 25 when I only needed 3, so I'd love to offload them for a few bucks or some beers. Also I'm using a Printrboard so I ordered all the mating connectors from Digikey for that, and I believe Bryan said he was using one of those. They're cheap so I got loads extra of those.
For belts, I ordered them from a place that has a minimum order of 5, so I ordered six and Tim is splitting them with me. Charles and Bryan if you don't have belts you may want to do the same. See my post on the deltabot mailing list for more info, and I'd suggest joining that if you haven't.
I've been working all summer on a big project and my deadline is this sunday, so while I will continue to work on it after, I should finally be able to go to some meetings again in the coming weeks, and that would be a great opportunity for us to all split up any parts we have.
One thing I haven't sorted out is the Plywood. It needs to be thicker than the laser at Techshop can cut (though perhaps doubling it up and gluing it would work) so I was planning on cutting it out by hand. If any Techshop members are well-versed with the Shopbot though and wanted to make themselves the plywood, I'd love it if they made a couple extras for me (and anyone else?). If thats an option lets talk more about it - the plywood isn't really fully defined yet as most people do it by hand.
Alternatively, someone could laser it out of thin plywood and then that could make a nice template for cutting it out of thicker plywood by hand. I have some wood for the laser at home but am no longer a TS member.
Builders - Assemble! (wow, I didn't even intend for that to be a pun...)
