Today's WOF Round 2 Puzzle with the new 52 space-board(12,14,14,12) was:
CLUE- HISTORIC
DOCUMENT FIRST
SIGNED BY
JOHN HANCOCK
(answer: Declaration of Independence).

Total length:40 letters(8+8+5+6+2+4+7) and 28 consonants total. I think
we mentioned recently on this newsgroup the record(or possible record)
for consonants in a WOF puzzle was 28. That was in the third round in
1985, when $5000 was top dollar value in syndie round three in the days
of shopping. The Puzzle: STAR LIGHT STAR BRIGHT FIRST STAR I SEE
TONIGHT.
THE THRILL OF VICTORY AND THE AGONY OF DEFEAT has 24 consonants in
it(that, of course was the puzzle with no S in it where the contestant
racked up $62,400 before calling an S from back in 1985)

Another bit of WOF trivia: the cheapest Special Prize on the wheel from
the syndie years of WOF was a $425 video camera in the first season,
followed by $500 in cash(signified on the wheel with an $ symbol) from
the same first season. The most expensive Special Prize on the wheel was
a CADILLAC in 1986 worth $31,211(forget what kind of Cadillac is was,
obviously it wasn't a Catera)

Two great WOF musings to ponder:

1. What was the most expensive Surprise on the Wheel(They did offer
cheap cars in the first two years of that space(1992-4)?
2. Has there ever been a puzzle longer than forty letters in
length(including punctuation, but not spaces)?

Actually this happened with a lot of frequency. I remember that the SURPRISE
was once a Geo Tracker.

Also, the SURPRISE prize was usually $8,000+ (trips, etc.)
