On these groups, you will find two common definitions of "spell"
in use. One is based on Christian-type religious ideas and amounts
to rituals that will inspire some supposed deity to do something
magickal for you. Prayer, in-other-words.
The other comes from a strange hybrid of phsyical science and
real magickal lore that developed alongside of physical science,
which basically sees a spell as a ritual that will press the
right buttons on an invisible, supernatural magick machine.
Both of these definitions/methods are fallacious. You can have
some limited success with either one of them, but only because
you believe in them and are working, however inadvertantly, with
the real 'mechanics' of magick: You are focussing on an idea(s),
your goal.
A belief is a spell. A belief is composed of a central idea
that has been reinforced by emotion and imagination. A belief
differs from a thought in that it is stronger and more stable.
One casts a spell and when this has been done successfully, it
manifests and moves to the background of your conscious mind
where it is maintained.
We are magickal beings living in a magickal universe. Everything
you experience on Earth is a manifestation of magick. Magick is
the real science.
When a spell manifests itself, therefore, it will do so in
accordance with what seem to be the natural laws that govern
this reality.
A love spell will not result in your idea of a perfect woman
materializing in your bed. It will result in you having what
seems to be a chance encounter with someone that you are
attracted to and vice-versa. Etc.
A prosperity spell will not result in a pot of gold coins
materializing on your living room carpet. It will result
in you 'happening' upon a better job. Etc.
That's the way spells manifest and why it is impossible
to prove that they are the result of magick to the
physical scientists. They always seem to be the result
of what _they_ call "coinidence". Of course, there's
no such thing as coincidence, and _everything_ that
happens is a result of magick, so there's no point
in worrying about what those superstitious geeks
think. They'll get it one of these lifetimes...
Once you have done the basic work on the spell
See: The Two Phases of Spellwork

manifesting a spell requires one more step : Acting. This is the
only part of spellwork that isn't inner-focussed work.
You must, spontaneously (guided by your intuitions) act
AS IF what you want to be true IS true.
For example, if you were casting for prosperity, this
_might_ mean that you spent a few dollars you seemingly
could not afford on something fun.
But there is no way that any _particular_ action will
always bring about particular results for everyone.
That's the "magick as an invisible, supernatural machine"
theory, not true magickal science.
The only conscious thing you can do in this phase of
spellwork is be alert for opportunity. Not obsessed with
the spell, which will interfere with it in a serious way,
but just alert: You know that opportunity is going
to knock and you are listening for it...
Sid
David Copperfield lost a good assistant recently. Maybe you could
apply for the job and be famous for realsy.
AINE, YOU ARE A CREEP THAT MADE FUN OF A CHILD’S DISSIBILITY! No
matter where you are, sadly you are in your own skin. YOU ARE FAR MORE
MORALLY and SPIRITUALLY DISABLED than she is physically.
