We know her passion for all things holocaust, genocide. Didn't she
have to become a "family values" Orthodox Jew after a young Deryk

Holocaust opinion is a top reason to call for censoring Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad at Columbia University. Schlessinger couldn't say enough

she went off the deep end with the Santa Barbara City Council, Mayor

Ahmadinejad unlike some Turks? Ahmadinejad asks the wrong questions
and some say "he's a holocaust denier". This isn't about defending him
or his government. It's to point out how there are those that say
"holocaust deniers" are the worst, demonic, terrorists et al. Let's
keep this local, like a Schlessinger Middle East. How much do American
students even hear the word Armenia? Do adults do much better? And
Armenian genocide, what's that? It looks like alot of denial.... but
hey! We need Turkey and what do most Americans know?
Will Laura Schlessinger be giving Turkey heck for their denials? What
about the Kurds? While she's for all things Bush war and terrorist the

The sad thing is that so many of the Santa Barbara News-Press-haters
have no real experience with news bias. This week everyone in the
world -- well, the point is . . . not everyone in the world did get
this lesson.
The good news from Iran is that there are multiple points of view in
their mullah-controlled media. The bad news is . . . they're all
wrong.
Rushing to put the best face on a disastrous visit by Mahmoud
Ahmadinejad to Columbia University, the Islamic Republic News Agency
gushed immediately after that he received a "standing ovation" and
that "the audience on repeated occasion (sic) applauded Ahmadinejad
when he touched on international crises."
But stop the presses! Later that same day, the same propaganda
machine reported that Columbia President Robert Bollinger "was goaded
on by the Zionists and the U.S. neoconservatives" to
be "harsh," "disrespectful" and "insulting."
So what was it? A love-fest or an ambush? Well, in the Iranian press,
if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it must be . . . a
moose.
In fact, that is the only explanation for some of the alternate-
universe utterings that spew from Ahmadinejad's mouth. Here's a gem
that he dropped at the National Press Club on Tuesday: "Iranians are
the freest and the most intellectual nation in the world and are well
informed of the daily news."
The status of burqa-clad women in Iran? "Iranian women are freest in
the world (sic) and engaged in different scientific, social, media,
political and artistic activities."
When confronted with the charge of jailing dissident academics,
Mahmoud Smoothie replied: "Those who were named are not in prison at
all. (They are) doing their jobs and are completely paid while they
are not fulfilling even one-fifth of their real duties." Huh?
And, of course the Iranian president gave a classic response to the
well-documented charge of Iran's persecution and murder of
homosexuals, which was greeted with derisive laughter from the
audience (or was that a standing ovation?). He stated, "There are no
homosexuals in Iran." Well, that solves that.
Now, while I applaud President Bollinger's fact-filled introduction
of the petty tyrant from Tehran, I question Columbia's need to
offer "free speech" rights on American soil to an anti-Semitic,
racist, homophobic, fact-challenged fascist, especially given
Columbia's recent history regarding some more aborted efforts at free
public expression.
It was less than a year ago that Jim Gilchrist, founder of The
Minutemen Project, was chased off stage by a riot of Columbia
undergraduates. Uh, where were the free-speech police?
President Bollinger has had to deal with accusations of speech
intolerance against members of the Middle East faculty. The Columbia
undergraduate Republican student group has had events restricted to
only 20 student-attendees and open debate over the return of ROTC has
been stifled. Uh, where were the free-speech police?
But when the righteous Ahmadinejad arrived at the hallowed halls of
my alma mater, there was plenty of security, a large crowd and lots
of cameras rolling to see this exercise in the First Amendment.
Personally, I will exercise my First Amendment rights with this
column and with no alumnus check to Columbia University until
the "free-speech police" protect all points of view.
[ the power of that check book:
"with no alumnus check to Columbia University until
the 'free-speech police"' protect all points of view." ]
This week the old alma mater is making noose news
