Global Warming's Cool!

The United Nations reports that people and emissions are almost
certainly to blame for global warming. The administration pooh-poohed
such scare tactics, and then scrambled to learn if any U.N. members
had undercover CIA spouses they could out. Meanwhile, conservative "no-
think" tanks were mobilized to discredit any science that constipates
the Republican agenda.

They're the intellectual fiber that gets the message out -- brainy
bran muffins for the masses.

Can we trust the administration's stance that the threat of rising
temperatures is just a lot of hot air? Not according to a very high
government source -- meaning his position, not what he's smoking.
Republicans have long known that the climate is a-changing, he claims,
according to a secret White House memo.

So why have we virtually ignored investing in alternative forms of
energy? Why have we awarded huge tax credits to buyers of gas-guzzling
Hummers? To help Big Business benefactors? No. The memo reveals
another reason why we're burning more and more oil from countries that
hate us...a very sinister reason. Google a map of the last election,
and it's obvious that global warming has a striking political benefit.
Hint: it's not the Red States that are on the coasts. As temperatures
soar, who would a rise in sea level affect most? You got it -- global
warming is an administration plot to submerge both coasts and flush
away Blue State voters.

Do you have any more purely political blogs to share,
why is this garbage even in a newsgroup that should not
be political at all because of the possible major effects on
every person on the planet, either from natural disasters
or destroyed economies.

Lying reich-winger. Global Warming exists, because it is accurately
measured. Climate change has happened already and is recorded
worldwide and is documented. It is caused by humans without a doubt.
It harms the rich and poor both by threatens the poor the most because
they can't afford the defenses that the rich can buy to make
accommodations, like air conditioning or deeper well or flood control
measures.

It was discussed openly over 3 decades and the decision has been made
that the debate portion is closed so that emergency response actions
can go forward.

There is no new evidence and no surprises. It has been found that the
richest corporations are engaged in criminal frauds to protect their
dirty pollution sources of income and refuse to change to clean
industry investments. Career criminal accomplices in the sciences have
been exposed, identified, debunked by courtroom evidence. Paid
accomplices through front organizations regularly post deceptions to
continue the "appearance of debate" when the debate is over. No new
evidence accompanies the propaganda piece above.

Meanwhile....

Australian drought 'worst in 1,000 years': expert

Nov 7 01:59 AM US/Eastern 2007

The world's driest inhabited continent was in the grip of the worst
drought in 1,000 years, a river management expert told Australia's
political leaders.

Prime Minister John Howard and three state premiers were presented
with the assessment by an expert on the country's most significant
river system at a crisis drought summit in Canberra.

The drought has already been described variously as the worst in
living memory, the worst in a century and the worst since white
settlement more than two centuries ago, and Howard said he could not
verify the latest claim.

"You say worst drought in a thousand years, I don't think anybody
really knows that," he said, adding that he was not a scientist.
"It's a very bad drought."

But he acknowledged that the general manager of River Murray Water,
David Dreverman, made the dramatic prediction at the summit Howard
held with the premiers of three of the worst-affected states.

Howard called the summit as statistics showed that the country's
most important river system, within the Murray-Darling Basin, could
run out of water in six months, after six years of drought.
About 30 rivers and hundreds of tributaries run across the basin,
which feeds about 70 per cent of Australia's irrigated farmlands.
South Australian Premier Mike Rann said the assessment by Dreverman,
who also sits on the Murray Darling Basin Commission, was worrying.
"We were told at the meeting by the Murray-Darling commissioner that
we now face, not a one-in-100-year drought, but a one-in-1,000-year
drought," Rann told reporters. "So we are into uncharted territory."

The summit agreed to draw up contingency plans to secure water
supplies, with a working group of state and federal public servants
to report back by December 15.

The government also agreed to speed up the implementation of
proposals under the National Water Initiative, with permanent
interstate water trading to begin between New South Wales and
Victoria states on January 1 next year.
