Democrats on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform have
asked Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) to obtain a clarification from
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R).

During a congressional testimony last year, Walker had denied that his
actions in Wisconsin were used to punish members of the Democratic Party
and their donor base, namely unions. But recently released video of the
governor appears to contradict his testimony.

“This new video raises serious questions about the veracity of Governor
Walker’s testimony before our Committee, in which he repeatedly described
his decision to strip public sector union workers of collective
bargaining rights in purely economic terms,” Reps. Elijah Cummings,
Gerald Connolly and Chris Murphy wrote in a letter. “Instead, this video
suggests that his motivation was to ‘divide and conquer’ public sector
unions in order to turn Wisconsin into a ‘completely red state.’”

Before he introduced legislation to strip public employees of collective
bargaining rights, he promised a billionaire donor that he would use a
“divide and conquer” strategy to bust unions, a newly released video
revealed.

In the video shot by documentary filmmaker Brad Lichtenstein on Jan. 18,
2011, billionaire Diane Hendricks asks Walker if he would make Wisconsin
a “completely red state, and work on these unions, and become a right-to-
work?”

“Oh, yeah,” Walker replied. “Well, we’re going to start in a couple weeks
with our budget adjustment bill. The first step is we’re going to deal
with collective bargaining for all public employees, use divide and
conquer.”

Hendricks went on to give the governor’s campaign $510,000. That makes
makes her not only Walker’s biggest donor, but the biggest donor to any
candidate in Wisconsin’s history, according to the Milwaukee Journal
Sentinel.

It appears that House Democrats do not realize that they have no
Constitutional oversight of a sitting state governor.

Actually, yes, they do. Oh, they can't fire him, but they can
investigate, and if he has broken federal law, turn it over to Justice.

State Rights is arrant nonsense left over from the losers of the civil
war. If a state government is violating the rights of its citizenry, it
has a right to step in.

In this instance, though, it's a bit more basic: Walker lied under oath
to Congress. They are asking the Judiciary Committee to investigate if
he committed a felony.

The Dems will throw everything they've got at Walker for slapping the
greedy unions down. But they've got nothing so all they can is beg
Issa to "obtain a clarification" from Walker. He'll tell them to FOAD.

Walker will probably defeat the recall. What will libs do then? Find a
liberal judge so they can defy voters and state law. Just like they always
do. Rules and laws don't apply to them.

Some years ago a sitting US president lied under oath to a grand jury.
The democrats in this forum gave him a complete pass. Now those same
Democrats want to charge a sitting governor for supposedly lying to a
house committee?

And Mike Lofgren, a veteran Republican congressional
staffer, wrote an anguished diatribe last year about why
he was ending his career on the Hill after nearly three
decades. ?The Republican Party is becoming less and less
like a traditional political party in a representative
democracy and becoming more like an apocalyptic cult, or
one of the intensely ideological authoritarian parties
of 20th century Europe,? he wrote on the Truthout Web
site.

I remember the discussion. Even the Republicans finally admitted they

him of the lesser charge of lying.

So it is OK for a democrat sitting president to lie?

Just for the record, if it can be shown that Walker lied to Congress, I
would support whatever action the law allows. Just as I supported
Clinton's impeachment for lying.

When can we expect such consistency from you?

If you're talking about just plain old lying, you'll have a helluva time
finding any president--or any politician at all--who never lies.
Politicians do lie and if you can't grasp that, then you aren't fit to
discuss politics.

A pity he didn't actually lie under oath, huh?

In Walker's case, we have him on video boasting of doing exactly what he
told Congress he wasn't doing. Of course, you've got Darryl Issa as head
of House Ethics, and there's a complete moral bankrupt right there.

Wrong. That president did *NOT* lie. He responded to a badly framed
question that allowed him to legitimately answer "no". You just didn't
like his answer.

Furthermore, what legitimate reason was there for the question, let
alone any grand jury? After all, the judge in whose courtroom the case
was tried, threw out the case as having no supporting evident despite
that judge deciding to fine the defendant for not answering in the
affirmative. Her argument? She said the defendant was the president of
the United States and a lawyer....he knew what the *REAL* question
was. He shoulda' answered what the plaintiff's lawyer meant to ask.
Even if Clinton had admitted to the affair with Lewinski, the judge
would have still thrown the case out. Her written judgment indicates
my conclusion.

Again, Hartung, you prove your type of "christianity" is much closer
to White Power christianity than the stated catholic church's concept
of gentleness. (Which hired a guy who fought to keep Hitler in power.
Go figure.)

Prove he lied. Post both the question and the answer.

You may be surprised. Try to understand: in a legal case you answer
the question asked, not what you think or know the questioner asked.

Think of it this way: Let's say you stole your parish's money on
Tuesday, but the prosecuting attorney asks you if you stole the money
on Wednesday. What's smart feller like you gonna say?

"WE"????? Well, when fools like you **ALL** stop lying and use history
and logic.

I suppose you've always been honest about your sexual activities when
asked. Don't use the fact that you've never been in a legal action
regarding them. The 10 commandments don't limit lying to legal cases
only.

Have you ever had sexual relations with a man, a boy, a girl, a woman
not your wife???
