I live close to a small county-seat in a small county of only about
55,000
There are some new & impressive buildings: the First Baptist Church,
some other churches, at least 6 banks--Wachovia, Regions, Piedmont,
Peoples, Community, Integrity (a colonial or victorian or whatever
chic bldg remains vacant, because as of a few weeks ago the FDIC
closed Integrity Bank with the accounts transferred to Regions), and a
terrific McDonalds
Frankly it's a rather shabby city with mainstreet vacancies and of
course a Walmart about 4 miles from the center of town
But, gosh darn it, we sure got some fine looking banks
And I bet there are some nice banks near vous too

The Dud-Jones has semi-tanked, and they're (CNBC) using the "C" word,
for it crashed today.
In Asia & Europe, the lame mortgages of the U.S., (depending on
gambling on the housing bubble not busting), have allegedly
contaminated the some of rest of the world's financial machinations--
sorry about that, fellows.
Wall Street is trying desperately to lure the pulled stock market
moneys back-into the miasma* to buy stuff (cynicism: so the shorts can
have something more to short).
There's "bargains' to be had: So, hurry back to the game, nevermind
that the cleverest hedge funds, shrewd sharpies, and swift calculators
are playing the game against the longs.
Now, some simple bragging will ensue
Because I feel the wonderful psychic need to an "I told ya so."
Last summer (2007, July) when the craziness (mishigas) got really
going, I (the most unsuccessful real estate broker ever licensed) said
on Use Net:
THE SOLUTION WAS/IS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE nor anything close: It's not
complicated at all.
Uncle Sam pays off the foreclosures, the investors are thus made whole
so to financially speak.
Simultaneously, the federal govt makes new loans for ever how many
years the owner-occupant house borrower needs (10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35,
40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70 years whatever) at a decent win-win
interest rate of 5%
Then govt-HUD-FHA sells the non-gimmick (no teasing bullshite)
mortgages to investors and insures 'em too.
I think these mortgages should be assumbable for a decent fee (one
percent escalation or whatever)
So the federal govt resolves the foreclosure plague that has been
bringing down the housing prices and everything economic else.
The zillions of taxpayer money now being expended by the FEDERAL
RESERVE & by TREASURY do not have to be, as I said (last year)
If I can retrieve my posting to this group &/or to alt.philosophy last
year, I'll place it into this tedious tho true enuff thread.
I don't think Gore or Kerrey woulda handled the foreclosure plague and
semi financial collapse as badly as GWB has
GWB (imho) is an idiotological fool whom allegedly never or rarely
cracked a book at Yale
