Hi There

Today (Jan 17, 2008) when I added a new snipURL and tested it out, the
"Manage Snips" section show no new clicks / unique clicks at all, even
though I personal clicked / typed in the snipr URL several times, from
more than 1 PC!

Is something wrong with the service, or is there an explanation?

Thanks
Ruggero

Ruggero,

Click tracking is disabled for certain kind of images (e.g., the kind
that forum users use in their "avatars" -- this is a huge stress on
our free service) and some websites that have been put on our "watch
list" (because they are often used for spam, but not always).

Let me know the specific snipurl in question and I'll let you know why
it is not being tracked.

Many thanks

I'm using snipr for affiliate links, such as those from clickbank. 1,
for example is: http://rusiro.jobkill101.hop.clickbank.net (no
tracking)

I've noticed that my other 1, http://www.test.com which I used
specifically for testing, now registers 7 clicks and 4 uniques. But
when I was testing, it didn't register any tracking for a long time!

How long does it usually take to register clicks?
Can users not track snipped affiliate links from places like amazon,
clickbank, CJ etc? That would be a real bummer!

Thanks!
Ruggero

Yes, clicktracking is disabled for clickbank.net.

If the snipped url is not of a domain that is in our watch list, you
should see the clicks being registered in 20 minutes.

Many thanks

What are the differences among the variants of snipurl?

Thanks,

None. As mentioned in our Help, they are all effective the same domain
(aliases). For legacy reasons -- we started with Snipurl.com, then
went for the shorter Snurl.com, then picked up Snipr.com when it
became available. People seem to have pretty staunch preferences.

I have now highlighted this in the Help entry (thanks for pointing!)

Basically, whichever you prefer, please login from that domain and
make sure your "Snip!" shortcut reflects your preference (drag the
shortcut from the front page of the correct domain).

Happy snipping,
