Remove ~/.picasa and try running picasa again
For whatever reason the content under that directory hangs up Picasa

Sometimes you may also get the agreement dialog if you don't shut down
the machine / unmount the disk properly. By removing ~/.picasa, this
also can be fixed.

The downside is you have to set up Picasa again and wait for the long
long indexing.

Subject: Re: For those who get splash screen hanged up
I'm trying to run picasa 2.6 on FC6 with Wine 0.9.31, and I always get
a hang-up with the splash screen on top of the picasa window.
I have tried to remove ~/.picasa without any luck.

I followed these instructions when installing:
http://groups.google.com/group/Google-Labs-Picasa-for-Linux/msg/783cd...

Any suggestion what might be causing this hang-up?

Regards
Mathias

If you are using official wine but not wine from google,
i.e. $WINEPREFIX=$HOME/.wine
you should remove picasa data under ~/.wine

Nobody wants to delete all the setup in wine just because a hangup in
picasa, so removing entire ~/.wine directory may not be an ideal
solution.

Depends on which windows version you have chosen, go to either:
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/profiles/$USERNAME/Local Settings/Application
Data/Google
or:
~/.wine/drive_c/Documents and Settings/$USERNAME/Local Settings/
Application Data/Google

remove Picasa* directories.

Let's see whether it helps.

If you followed those instructions, you're probably not using
wine-0.9.31;
those tell you to use the wine that comes with the old picasa.

What graphics card do you have?
What does
  WINEDEBUG=1 picasa
output?

Sorry for not being precise. I was using wine-0.9.31 when running
picasaweb-current-setup.exe, but I did follow the instructions, hence
using the wine version shipped with picasa 2.2 for Linux when
experiencing the hang up.

> What graphics card do you have?

"ATI Mobility Radeon X1300" (Chipset = 0x7149) - using fglrx driver,
but I am quite sure I have seen the same behavior with the radeon
driver.

As I just mentioned in a reply to dank, I actually did use the wine
version shipped by google when running picasa. 0.9.31 was what I used
for installation.

Sorry for not being precise, and thank you for your help.

fglrx is a known offender.  See http://wiki.winehq.org/fglrx and/or
try
starting Picasa in a terminal window with LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1

It did not help to set LIBGL_ALWAYS_INDIRECT=1.
Now I have tried with the radeon driver, and still with no luck. Any
ideas?
