AUSTRALIA -A FIERCE storm with high winds has swept through Queensland's
south-west, uprooting trees and ripping the roofs off homes and buildings.
The storm hit Dalby, north-west of Toowoomba, at 4.50pm (AEST) yesterday
bringing down trees and power lines and tearing the roofs off 18 homes
and two buildings at Dalby State School, police said.
Council staff and State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers from
Chinchilla, Oakey and Jandowae spent the night clearing trees from roads
and securing homes, police said.
