Sad to see it sitting idle among the weeds in the pix.
It's great that it will be getting some love.

Craig,
Make sure the car you have is structurally sound.  Look behind the passenger seat where the floor pan and the fire wall meet for rust.
Also look at the Longitudinal support on the passenger side.  You need to remove the running board on the passenger side to get a good look.
If the longitudinal is rusted through you are looking at some expensive repairs and the car might not be worth moving forward with.  Have someone jump up and down on the rear bumper while you look at the gap between the passenger door and the body of the car.  If you can see the gap flexing, you are in trouble.
Ask me how I know.

I check my LiFePho 200Ah voltronics batteries once a month or so and also check all my connections.
BUT I have not needed to re-balance my batteries.

Good Luck

Now that it is in the garage is THE time to do major cleanup - make sure the 12v system is working perfectly, remove/paint all the rust, update all the bearings (if they have never been replaced, this is a good time to do so), and then make sure all your creature comforts are taken care of - radio, heat, fan, etc.

Cheers!   Peter

Thanks Guys-

I am in the process of checking structural integrity, cleaning it, and testing the 12V and battery system (the headlights pop up and turn on, I tested them!). I am also drawing a schematic of the electrical system, as I am sure I am going to need to troubleshoot it.

Question:
Do you think it will be possible to store small amount of charge in the very old lead batteries so I can confirm that the system works (I just want to see the drive wheels turn while it is on jackstands)? I dont need to even move the car, just confirm that its all hooked up.
The Pb batteries in there are at least 5 years old, so dont know if that will even work.

Thanks everyone

Craig

I don't see why you couldn't store enough in the batteries to at least check the drive systems out.  Don't expect too much power to come out tho.  :)

Cheers, Peter
