- Mini Tablet display in cockpit? [4 Updates]
Mark Brems <mcb...@gmail.com> Nov 14 12:12PM -0800
Hey All,
Whomever here has installed or researched mini tablets permanently
installed
for display of EV data, could you kindly make some recommendations?
I'm looking at the Nexus 7, but it seems like overkill when all I need for
now is
to run the Torque app. There seems to be a plethora of 7" tabs out there
that
are much less expensive that will run most Android apps. There's even one
from
the Philippines called a "Torque!"
I was looking at something as simple as a Nook, rooted to run apps, but I
will also need bluetooth to get the data via a OBD2 to the tablet.
Any suggestions?

Hi Mark,
No actual experience with this, but another thing to possibly consider is a
low power computer. They can be around 5W power draw, but may be easier to
interface with.
Two I'm aware of are Raspberry Pi and Tiny Green PC.

Good luck!

It all depends on how good your eyes are from the distance of where it
will be mounted. I'm using my Droid Bionic mounted to the dashboard
and it's just a little too far away and small, but I'm not going to
invest in a bigger device just for the car.

Check all these out:

Some are pretty cheap. For under a hundred they might just be worth
tinkering with.
