I have a A7N8X Deluxe <Version 2.0> and would like to
add a Primary SATA hard Drive. What I need to know is
this:

Is it Possible to add a single SATA drive as the primary
master drive? If so how is this done?

Many thanks in advance!

there's really not much to it, besides the physical installation and making
sure that the SATA controller jumper is set to enable.

you'll need to install the drivers (silicon image) that came with the board
or ones downloaded from the asus site, it'll appear as a SCSI/RAID
controller under win2k and XP.

if you intend to make it your system drive do the F6 driver load during OS
installation and it'll be imperitive that you enable "Boot Other Device" in
the BIOS, otherwise you'll get a disk error when you try to boot without the
CD.

i just installed a WD raptor drive as my system drive the other day and
things are working great.

hope this helps

Yes.

Connect drive. Set boot type to "SCSI" in BIOS. Be sure to hit F6 to install
the drivers, during Windows Setup when it asks.
